[CHAPTER 3]
{Family Time}
Song suggestion| Samay Ka Pahiya Chalta Hai (Bhootnath)
DUA'S POV:
The crackling of jalebi really makes my day. The highlight of my day is when I get back from college and work here, my family sweet shop, 'Malik's Meethai'. This is the only time during the day that I'm surrounded by the smell of meethai.
"Iske 839 Rupees huye, yeh bhi hum khate mein likh lete hain tayaji, thik hai na?"
"Thik hai beta," the old man I have known as my tayaji since my childhood, smiled, "are, beta aap ke abbu kahan hai?"
"Abbu.... tayaji, mujhe lagta hai woh ghar par ho sakte hai. Aap chahe toh hum unko bulakar la sakte hain," I said offering my best guess on where abbu could be.
"Nahi, nahi beta, hum khud ja kar dekh ate hain, tum kam khatam karlo thik hai na?" I nodded as he headed towards my house.
Abbu and tayaji aren't real brothers. They're step-siblings, but they love each other and have supported one-another a lot. When I was younger, my dadaji was against me going to school. My abbu tried to explain to him that it wasn't wrong for girls' to school, dadaji wasn't convinced. The reason I am educated today is because of my tayaji, and I can never be grateful enough for this.
I smiled when I recalled a sweet memory.

Flashback:
"Humari gudia chocolate khayegi?" tayaji asked and I nodded.
This was something he did every single day. He'd ask me if I wanted chocolate and then would make me chase him to get it.
But I had my ways.
"Bhaiya, dekho na, tayaji hume chocolate nahi de rahe," I'd whine and bhaiya would do all the running for me.
I still remember bhaiya trying to tickle tayaji but failing to do so miserably and ending up breathless in fits of laughter.
Either way, I got chocolate in the end and that's all that matters.
Flashback ends.

"Duuaaaaa!!!!" I heard my name being called from the other side of the house. I rushed out of my room and headed to the living room where bhaiya was waiting for me,
"haan bhaiya, kya hua? Aap itni jaldi kaise aage?" I asked trying to catch my breath.
He came over to me and put his hands on my shoulders, "woh aapne paise maange tha na abbu se, woh koi trip ke liye class ke saath?" I nodded, my brows furrowed, trying to put two and two together. His hands retreated into his uniform pocket as he fished out his wallet.
