Hazel's POV

I was in my garden, holding a pack of seeds. I loved planting, it was my hobby. I had my own personal garden, behind my house.

It was filled with many flowers on all sides, an oak tree in the right corner, aloe vera plants lined on the left side, and a grassy space in the middle.

The far side was empty, and I wanted to plant something there. I decided on two flower bushes on the sides, and in the middle I wanted a white swing chair.

I dug a hole for the bush, and put seeds into it. I covered it up, and then patted it down. I took my watering can, personally designed, and drizzled some water over it. Then I moved to the other side to plant the other push.

I took my small shovel and started digging a hole for it. I pushed it in, but only got halfway before I struck something with it. I frowned, then pushed my shovel to the side so the dirt would move away from the thing.

I put my shovel next to me with my pack of seeds, then reached my hands into it. I pushed more dirt away until it made a hole, with something nestled into the dirt. Only part of it was sticking up. I touched it, then put my index finger and thumb around it, pulling it out of the dirt.

It was still covered in dirt, but I could see it was something rectangular. I wiped it onto my shirt, which was already dirty so I didn't mind. The dirt was still there.

I rubbed it more but the dirt was still there. I got frustrated and got up, running into my house. I went into the bathroom and held it under the tap. The dirt washed away and I saw what it really was.

A chocolate brown enstatite nestled in my palm, not glinting because there ain't no sun in a bathroom, people!

Anyways, I walked out of the bathroom and sat on my bed, not sure what to do.

My room door opened, and my sister barged in without knocking. I was about to yell at her when she said, "Grandma." And ran back out.

My eyes widened and I jumped up and ran to my grandma's room. I saw her on the bed with her eyes closed, but she was still breathing.

You see, my grandma caught a disease a long time ago, before my mom was born, and she has these heart attacks, but manages to live through them. The doctors said that she has a very rare disease, not yet truly discovered.

I pulled a chair next to her bed and sat on it, taking her hand. My grandma is very close to me, and I hate seeing her unconcious like this.

Her eyes weakly opened, and a faint smile grew when she saw that it was me. Her eyes drifted to my hand, the one which wasn't holding hers. I looked too, and realized I was still holding the gem.

"I see, you found it." She said, smiling. "I always knew it would be you."

I looked at her confused. "What do you mean?"

"You'll know in time." She said.

She then let go of my hand, and reached for the other one. She placed her hand over mine, the one with the gemstone. A golden light emitted from her hands and passed over the enstatite. She removed her hand and put it by her side.

I looked at my gem. It was now a necklace, with the enstatite hanging from it.

"Hazel, I'm afraid this is our last conversation." My grandma smiled sadly.

My eyes filled with tears. This couldn't be happening. "Don't say that grandma, you'll live, like you lived through all of the other attacks!"

"I'm sorry, but I can't help it. Goodbye, Hazel." And with that her eyes fluttered shut, as she took her last breath.

I broke down crying.

-The next day-

I was still shaken up over my grandma's death, and stayed in my room since then.

I had worn the necklace ever since, and I was always thinking of what my grandma said.

What did she mean by I was the one?
Was I supposed to find the gem?
Was it a prophecy of some kind?

I was so confused...
