I helped Noah get up and we went upstairs to my bathroom.
I got hold of my first aid kit and helped wipe the blood that was gushing out from his nose and cracked lip.
"My best friend wouldn't throw a punch at me," I said.
"Well," he shrugged, "it is what it is."
"Yeah, I guess," I sighed, "you were saying?"
"What?"
"You care so much because?"
He shook his head, "nah, nothing."
"Come on Noah, talk to me."
He shook his head, "do you love Aden?"
"I dont know."
"Why'd you kiss him then?"
"It was a thing of the moment. I don't know."
"Well," he said, "I know Aden so much, I can tell you where he went right now."
"I don't wanna know."
"He's at Tracey's house. Fucking the life out of her."
"I said I don't wanna know."
"I know," he shook his head, "wow."
"What?"
"Nothing."
"Okay... wow!" I rolled my eyes.
"What?" He asked.
"I don't understand you."
"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view- until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." He shrugged.
"To kill a mocking bird, huh?" I laughed.
"Yeah," he laughed, "that's my favourite book," he said.
"Why?" I asked, curious.
"I don't know... should I have a reason?"
"Yeah!" I laughed, "you can't just love something without a reason."
"I know, but some things just happen."
"Yeah."
"What's your favourite book?" He asked.
"The fault in our stars by John Green!" I smiled.
"And why's that?" He asked.
I soaked the cotton wool in the methylated spirit and wiped his lower lip gently, "because it showed me how even at the darkest moment, you can still find love. You may find it when you least expect it, at an unexpected place, from someone you just met... you know." I couldn't help but think of Aden.
