When Star Butterfly was 15, she had given up the Butterfly lineage to Eclipsa Butterfly. The wand was gone, as Eclipsa had taken off with it, along with her daughter, Meteora.
One day, the wand was delivered back to Butterfly Castle. A note was attached to it.

Dear Butterfly family,

I believe this is yours. I understand Star gave the wand and crown to me. I request we keep this a secret. I want to live a peaceful life with my husband and Meteora. I am giving the wand and crown back. In exchange, I request all knowledge of me being alive to be erased and monster equality laws to be restored. As for the knowledge of the public, Meteora and I perished during the battle for the castle. Thank you, Eclipsa Butterfly.

It was the eve of the 30th birthday of Princess Star and Princess Nebulina. A ball would be occuring in honer of the girls, so the night before, Star arranged a sleepover for Nebby, her younger sister Cosma, and Nebby's 5 year old daughter, Marisol. Star's daughter, Ophelia, who was only 3, was already asleep on Star's old bed.
Star had just brought in some snacks, laying them in the center of the room.
The room was circular, with four cushions around a glass coffee table. The windows of the room were basically stain class images of the three sisters accomplishments. There was a window of Star defeating Toffee, a window of Cosma surrounded by floating books and paint brushes, while Nebby's window was odd. Her window depicted a pig-goat in one arm, and baby Mari in the other.
As Star set down the snacks, she plopped down in her cushion. She smiled at her little ginger neice, as the child timidly reached out for a cookie from the snack plate.
"So, Star." Cosma said, eyeing the plate of snacks.
"Yeah?" Star answered, absent-mindly watching Mari nibble the cookie.
"Are you telling everyone about the decision at the ball?" Cosma smiled smugly, knowing that Star's 'decision' was a sister secret.
"Shh." Star urged. "Yes. Mom and dad don't know yet." Star looked towards Nebby, who idly sat with Mari on her lap, as she continued to nibble the cookie.
"I mean, out of all of us, Cosma should take the crown." Nebby said, before narrowing her eyes slightly. "Then again..."
The girls were interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Who is it?" Little Mari called with an innocent smile. Star chuckled and hopped over to the door, her teal nightgown bouncing with her.
Opening the door, Star was greeted by a short green dragon in a purple cape, standing upright with a sword sheathed to his side. Upon seeing the Princess, he got onto his knees in a bow.
"My lady, Queen Moon requests young Mari." He said, smiling at Star. Nebby glanced over at the dragon with a confused expression, before looking over at Mari who had her mouth full of cookie crumbs.
"With what, may I ask?" Nebby asked, placing her hand on Mari's ginger scalp.
"I do not know." The dragon responded, as Nebby began to follow the dragon into the hallways with her young daughter.

"Are you sure this is what you want?" The pale woman asked, only her pale face showing out of her dark purple cloak.
Seated across from the cloaked woman was young Luminous Butterfly, Lumi for short. The young girl picked at her white painted nails, hesitating.
"From what you told me, Princess Nebulina abandoned you, replacing you with some other child." The cloaked woman said darkly. "The reason she abandoned you was because you were from an affair. An underaged pregnancy, out of spite."
She was poking at the insecurities. Lumi's pale hand was clenched.
"I'm in." Lumi said softly, her blue eyes locking with the cloaked woman's light violet eyes. Each outstretched a long, pale arm and grasped hands.
The deal was set.

Training daily was rough. It was worth it to travel to the village. She was always there.
Her tan skin from working in the sun. Her clear face, with her emerald green eyes bringing attention to her freckled cheeks.
Lumi felt nervous around her, desperately wanting her love and attention. Daily, she would be sent to fetch ingredients from the market, where this girl worked.
Small talk led to friendship. But friends? Lumi wanted more. Cara Everly.
"Lumi!" Cara's melodious voice broke Lumi's fantasies. Lumi looked up, her purple haired bouncing as she moved.
"Hey Cara." Lumi swallowed the lump in her throat. Cara smiled sweetly at her friend.
"The usual?"
Lumi nodded, and the short exchange of goods was made. But that was it. Lumi walked away with her basket of food, but the only feelings the two shared were of the food and ingredients.
Cara didn't know anything about poor Lumi. Hesitation rose in Lumi's chest as she waved goodbye.
