Kimmon still could not believe how everything had turned out the way it had.

After their kiss, their relationship had appeared to be transformed. They had gone inside of 'Opia', and Bas had ordered coffee, and he had listened to Kimmon singing. That much was not new. But now, at midnight, when both were leaving through the creaky door of the hidden café and wandering into the dark, silent streets, the angel had claimed that he had wanted to meet his home. Kimmon had taken him without further questioning.

Bas had been coming home with Kimmon for weeks now, venturing into the old house as if it was his own. Kim didn't mind, in fact, he was more than okay with this, because now the noisy, scary ambience wasn't so scary anymore. And Kimmon didn't feel alone.

The worst thing of coming back home alone after a night of work, was just that. The fact that he was alone. It had always made Kim feel as if that was how it was supposed to be for the rest of his life after his parents death. Kim had been left all on his own for a year, and he had been trying to figure out where he fit inside of this big, misterious world. What was his purpose? Where was he supposed to be? Was he supposed to stay here, alone and in misery, or to go somewhere else, still alone and in misery? Or was there, perhaps, someone waiting for him somewhere?

Kimmon was quick to realise that there was.

Because now the angel was here with him almost everynight, grabbing his stuff, using his shower, sleeping on his bed. And he was doing all of that with him. He was being kept real company this time. And Kimmon couldn't help but feel as if the reason he had been looking for all of this time was just that; someone to keep him company, someone that would make him feel as if he was not meant to face life's struggles all on his own.

He had been wanting someone to love, and Bas had been willing to be that for him.

So now, most days Bas was coming back home with him, and he was making himself some coffee with his machine, and he was claiming Kim's bed as his own. And they were making love; sweet and slow, or rushed and needy, but love all in all.

And Kimmon felt as if he was over a cloud again, sitting down over it, watching the world from above. And from here, he could see himself being happy, and he could see the angel that had come down from the sky to light up his lonely nights.

Kim had been lost. He had been wandering through life without a purpose. He had been stuck in the same rainy city, with the same old job, in the same old house. Some could say he was living, because he had a place to sleep, food to eat, and free time to enjoy. But when Kimmon thought about it, he could never help but wonder if that was all that there was to life. Was all that there was just attending basic needs, just trying to stay alive?

Because Kimmon may have been biologically alive, but he had been dead inside for over a year. His life was pointless, he couldn't see the ending line anywhere close. It felt as if he had been running a marathon, and somewhere along the way he had made a wrong turn and had distanced himself from the path where the rest of the competitors were still running. And now he was still running, but without a way, he was running aimlessly, trying to find his way back.

He wanted to believe that because of that wrong turn, the angel had come down to help him. He had seen from above a lost, sad boy, running around distressed. And he had made it his mission to bring him back to the main path.

And Kimmon couldn't be happier.

The thing had gone quiet. Ever since Bas had arrived, the presence had vanished, as if it had never been there in the first place. He could not hear noises anymore before going to sleep, not even when he was sleeping alone. He did not hear the coffee machine starting up, he did not find anymore broken things.
