I soared high above the quiet skies. I missed Nudge’s constant chatting; she was with Fang’s flock. The whole flock was worried about Angel’s mysterious disappearance; we didn’t have any idea where she had gone to, until the Voice/Maybe Jeb gave me some directions. Fang said he was going to stay put in Utah with the flock and I continue to attend the ‘special’ school while I searched for Angel. The Voice never failed me and not really willing to continue going to school, I traveled to Death City with Angel and the possible new flock member, the Shifter. I still have no clue what his name is and I’m flying high above Angel and him, while she tries to pry it out of him. I suppose it’s hard as he can’t exactly speak right now because he’s not in his human state. Not that he would say much even if he was human right now.

I glanced down at Angel who nodded at the Shifter then flew ahead of him then started to do some flips in air. She was laughing and giggling, I’m so happy to have her back. I smiled as I joined in with her. I wrapped my wings around my body then dove forward tilting to the right slightly, causing me to spin rapidly downwards. As soon as I was a foot above the boring, hot, sand, I flicked my wings straight out to my sides lifting me back up. It was nice to be able to relax after thinking hard about our strange encounter with the three teens.

“Max, are we there yet?!” Angel shouted in between twirls. She looked like a graceful ballerina with pure, white wings. Maybe not a ballerina, more like a gymnast. Like one of those really dedicated gymnasts that go to competitions and perfect every handstand and flip they do. Something like that.

Fifty-Four miles ahead. The Voice answered. At the speed we were going, which was somewhat slow for us, we should be there in an hour or so. That won’t do, now will it?

“No!” I shouted back. I lowered myself to her level, the tips of our feathers touching. “About fifty miles away. We should speed up.” I decided. Angel nodded and we both began to fly slightly faster than before. The Shifter copied our actions. My mind wondered over to the things that happened in the past few days.

1.) Began to attend school for ‘Gifted’ kids.

We were beyond the type of ‘gifted’ most kids are used to. We don’t need to play the piano or be able to list off 500 hundred numbers in pi. Just flash them our wings. However, we aren’t very good at subjects like math or science or… reading. And we can’t spell very well.

2.) Angel went missing without a trace.

I don’t think I need to explain the crazy panic attack everyone went through.

3.) Found Angel thanks to the Voice, and met three teens in the process.

Those kids are somehow connected to Itex- the power-crazy company we thought we defeated- or Mr. Chu- the angry, Asian man who enjoys telling people things they already know.

Let me just start by saying, wow, does Goldie remind me of Fang- the boy who likes to kiss me and flirt with Dr. Stupendous on a daily basis. First, they both dress in all black, that’s a giver. Second, their facial expressions are really bad at their job. Nobody can really tell how Fang feels, except me, I’m sure the same goes for the golden-eyed boy. He was really odd, he looked sickly pale, had three white lines that met halfway around his head that contrasted against his jet black hair, and two-toned gold eyes. I’m used to weird things like that, 6 year old Angel owns a flying, talking- and let me add dramatic- dog. Right now, my feelings for Fang are really confusing me and just adding a lot of stress to my already overflowing list of things to worry about.  If you don’t know who my flock is, I’d really rather not reintroduce people right now, I mean come on! We’re in the fifth book already, I take the time to write this stuff down, you could at least bother to inform yourself on this! (A/N: Yes, I read them all, I took a while on deciding on which book to base this off, Nevermore wasn’t an option for personal reasons, and from the first chap., you can probably tell I was considering basing it off books three and four, but I decided to keep it on Max- the fifth book) Iggy, Gazzy, Nudge, and Total are back with Fang. I’m sure Total would have rather been with Angel, but as you can see, that wasn’t really an option at the time she was kidnapped.
