friend tings :)

Part 3

Kaycee was sitting on Seans bed and Sean on the couch.

Both of them didnt know what to say or how to start the conversation, so there was a long and awkward silence until Sean began to speak.

Sean: What did you say to the other girls?

Kaycee: I said that Tricia wanted to talk to me about next class. I'm assisting her next week.

Sean: Why didnt you say that you are with me?

Kaycee was embarrassed to admit the truth cause she knew that they had to talk about it afterwards and she didnt know if she was ready yet. But Sean left her no other choice.

Sean: Kaycee?

Kaycee:.. I couldnt say anything. You wanted to be alone with me and they never would have understood it.

Sean: Did you?... Did you understand what I said?

After asking her the question Sean felt relieved  and was now waiting nervously for her answer. Maybe it would be best that Kaycee was aware of his feelings, cause he knew that he didnt had the courage to say it to her directly, at least for now.  

Kaycee was hesitant first, after looking him in the eyes for a while she responded softly.

Kaycee: Of course I did, we have so many secret projects we are planning together. You didnt want anybody else to hear it, right?

Sean was dissapointed. He knew that it wouldnt be that easy to confess his feelings to her, but Kaycee was no help at all. He had to admit that he also was relieved that she didnt suspect anything, cause he wanted to do it right and speak to her personally. It wouldnt be very special when Kaycee would have found out about his feelings through a message.

Sean: yeah... yeah you're right. I didnt want anybody else to hear about our projects together. (He tried to sound enthusiastic) We should surprise them.

Now it was Kaycees turn to be dissapointed. She knew, that he couldnt have meant it "that way", but she still had some hope. She wasnt sure what to think about Sean, and how she felt about him. It wasnt just friendship that was for sure. But she was afraid to make a move or even admit it to herself, they knew each other for so long and finally got to work and spend time together. Kaycee didnt wanna risk their friendship. She didnt even know if she was ready for a relationship yet. The only thing she was sure about was that her heart just broke a little because of his words.

- You are so stupid Kaycee! What did you think he would say? "I have feelings for you? Thats why I wanted to be alone with you?" Yeah right... in your dreams. Dont forget you are his homie, his heart homie-

Kaycee: pff heart homie ( Kaycee whispered to herself)

Sean: What did you say?

Kaycee: Nothing.

Sean: Did you just say heart homie?

Kaycee couldnt believe she said that out loud.

Kaycee: What? no.....Of course not

She was glancing at him. Seans sad face was happy now. He was smiling from ear to ear

Kaycee: what's a heart homie anyway?  she asked grumpily.

Sean: You did watch my live with alex, didnt you?

Kaycee: I dont know what your talking about.

Sean: Kaycee. Caitlin. Rice. I cant belive you are lying to me.

Kaycee didnt now how to respond to this. He was her best friend, of course she could watch his lives on instagram. But the fact that she denied it in the first place made it really difficult now and she couldnt back down.

Kaycee: Sean I really dont know what your talking about. I heard the name heart homie only just from you now.

Seans grin made it too obvious that he didnt believe her a single word. But he couldnt see her suffer any longer, so he decided that it was the best to stop talking about it. After looking at her intensely for a while the only thing he could say was: "If you say so."

There was a silence between them again, but they quickly got back to the old Sean and Kaycee and spend the night with laughing, talking about new projects and of course playing cards. As it was time for Kaycee to leave Sean accompanied her to the door.

Sean: That one friend that is closest to my heart.

Kaycee: What?

Sean: Thats the meaning of heart homie :)
