I feel the soft petals of the rose in between my fingers. I can't live with lies anymore. I'm not five years old, being told it's going to be okay when I have to fake my death and my father is taken away from me. It was never okay. I always wanted to live a normal life of a girl. An amazing father and a loving mother. I never got that. But faking my death was the cherry on top to make me livid. A few minutes pass, Ethan and Jane talk through the comm, I'm still pissed. I hear footsteps behind me. Why bother looking? It's probably some drunk guys trying to seduce me or something. I feel a hand on my shoulder. I look up and I see Ethan. "Hey Mr. Hunt." "Leah I didn't mean to do it- it's just Jane looked stressed and-" I hold a hand up to stop him. "Stop. That's not an excuse. And if that's your actual excuse? It's shit. That's totally unacceptable for a man of your standards." I hear Jane speaking to the rich guy in a seductive voice. "I bet you wish that man was you. Except Agent Carter wouldn't be doing it for nuclear launch codes." I say with a sneer. "Leah Madeleine Hunt! Do not talk to me like that! I did what I did and there's no way of fixing that! As long as Jane gets the goddamn codes, we stop the missile, and you're safe, this mission will be a success!" Ethan yells. Tears flood my eyes. "If that's how you put it." I say, pointing a finger at Ethan's chest. "And you call me dad! Not Ethan Hunt! Am I clear?" He says with a sharp tone. "Like crystal." I say. "So how's you're friend? What's her face...Makenna? Still singing?" Ethan asks. "Dad. That friendship died when I did." I say with an eye roll. Ethan kisses my cheek. "Still as snarky as always." He says. "Thanks, Dad." I say. "No problem, Leah." He says with a smile." "DID YOU HEAR THAT BENJI!?" Jane yells. "Y- yes, I did." Benji responds. "What?!" Benji yells. "Benji what's wrong?" I yell. "The missile is online!" He yells through the comm. "Can you disable it?" Ethan yells. "Yes, but I need a hardrive though." Benji says in a panicked voice. Ethan looks at me and we both run towards the stairs.

"So what are we gonna do about it?" I ask, slipping my combat boots on. "Benji is gonna try to get into the file and blow it up early. I dunno? He's gonna try to disable the missile." Ethan says, eyes glued to the road. "It goes off in three minutes." Benji says. Jane has a look on her face that tells me that she lost hope. "We're three and a half minutes away." She says quietly. "We'll make it." Ethan responds. We reach people crossing the road and Ethan impatiently taps the wheel with his fingers. Once they clear, He speeds off. I can tell he's scared. For me and half the world. I tie my right boot and I sit impatiently in the backseat. Jane turns around in the seat to face me. She hands me a pistol and a knife. I slide the knife into my thigh holster and I look up a Jane. She has a worried look on her face. "Jane? I need extra magazines don't I?" I ask. "Oh- Yeah- Wait how do you know what a magazine is?" Jane asks, clearly confused. "Duh IMF dad?" I say sharply. Jane hands me some magazines and looks me in my dark blue eyes. "Leah. These people will kill you without hesitation. Are you sure you don't want to hide somewhere outside of the building?" Jane asks. I look down for a few seconds, then look at her straight in her dark eyes. "I'm in."

~

We sneak into the building, just Jane and I. Ethan ran off to find the target. I see a corpse with two bullet holes in it. "Suppressed pistol." Jane whispers. We go to the computer room and we hear voices. "I'll go first, just try to sneak and hide. I'll take care of the guys with my gun." Jane whispers. I nod and we both split up into the room.

~

I'm scared. I'm trying hard to be brave, but I'm failing. I hold my gun. My hands are shaking uncontrollably. I sit down next to a computer desk. Sweat and tears fall down my face. I hear gunshots. "Jane?! Leah?!" I hear Benji yell. I see a shadow behind me. I look back but I hear a gunshot. Then, I feel blood trickle down my bare arm.

~

There's a searing pain in my arm. I just got shot. I shot the guy. I wasn't ready to do something like this, but I had to do this for me, for my life. "Leah?!" Benji yells. "LEAH!" Jane screams. I feel blood make a path out of my mouth. The metallic taste, its color, the smoothness. I've seen so much of it. I hear running footsteps get closer. "LEAH!" I hear Jane scream. My eyelids start to close, everything fades. Jane slaps my face lightly. "Come on, come on, stay here, you're okay." She whispers. She pulls me up and I lean against her. "What....do...I...need to.......do" I say lightly. "You shouldn't be doing work." Benji says with a worried tone. "Tell....me.....what...to do.....and.....I'll.....do it....." I trail off. "Fine." Benji says. He picks me up and carries me over to the control board. "Now plug this wire in when the lights turn on." Benji says. I nod and he types more on his computer. Jane comes up and hands me a cloth. I press it on my wound. I wince and the lights turn on. "Plug it in!" Benji yells. I slam the cord into its socket and I collapse. Hot tears mix in with sweat and blood. Jane, Benji, and suddenly Brandt come and kneel next to me. Jane places a hand on my cheek and looks at me with worry in her eyes. My eyes feel like they've had weights put on them. Everything suddenly goes black.

NOTE: So I made it that Leah got shot and not Jane, and I'm also very sorry this chapter took sooooo long. I wrote most of this at two in the morning and I'm going to publish this in the morning sooo yeah I hope you guys like it! -FairlyNewPotterhead
