Chapter 21- Once upon a bird

Janet's POV

"Scarl i have had enough of your shit" bending my legs inward while sitting on the bed. Don't think about it. It's as comfy as hell.

"Oh common, you know you can't get rid of me that easily" she raised her eyebrow up.

"Urgh" I groaned loudly, using the pillow by my left to hit myself square on the face.

"Hehehehe, try harder babe" she winked.

"I hate you" I rolled my eyes before resting on my back.

"I love you"  she chuckled then joined me in my new position.

"Oh no, aiden can do all the loving right?" She poked me close to my rib expecting a reply.

"Right?" She asked again when I didn't reply.

"Seems you are gonna have it the hard way" she straddle me,using her fingers to tickle me.

Mumbling incoherent words and moving on the bed violently. I won't admit no i can't give up that easily.

"RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT" I screamed when I couldn't not take it any longer. Tears are already forming in my eyes. She sure knows how to get someone.

"Can i keep you forever" scarl sighed hopefully.

I chuckled " she's not some kind of possession you know?".

"You can always call me anytime. I am at your beak and call" phoebe replied while styling scarls hair.

"Where did you learn how to do all of this?, i mean there's not beauty shop in the pack unless the city". On bring out the hair product I asked.

"When I was young, I do follow my step mother to the city whenever she wants to style her hair. I would just sit down quietly and watch. From there i started learning few things" she explained not taking her eyes of the hair as she brushed it.

Aiden never mentioned she has a step mother. That's weird.

"Wow,you learnt well then" I tried brushing off the feeling.

"Real well" scarl seconded.

"Well what I can say,thank you" she smiled as what i call genuinely.

"Well is our thing" we all busted in laughter.

"You can say that again luna" she moved over to make mine.

"Not again, it's a bit creepy with the luna this luna that" I removed the hair net protecting my hair from falling to my shoulder.

"How do you want it" she massaged my scalp.

"Mmmm,what about your favourite?" I said teasingly with a smile.

"Sure" she began rubbing and applying hair oil and curls enhancer.

"Can I open my eyes now" I really can't wait to see what she has turn my hair into.

"Omg!" I exclaimed happily before twirling around allowing breeze to flow the hair.

"I'm waiting for aiden to..." the door opened interupting me. Turning to see who enter, aidens facial expression is giving out a something is wrong kind of expression.

"I would see you girls later" I made them take their leave ealier than they should.

"Baby, what's wrong" I walked toward him placing my hands right on his shoulder.

" I need to get out of town now" he said as he packs his luggage.

"Why" i inquired but stopped him from packing. I really need him to look at me straight in the eye.

"I can't talk about it now. I'll be back soon okay? He carried the luggage,walking out.

"Okay" I folded my hand standing close to the door.

He sighed before moving closer " don't wait for me before you sleep" Leaning closer, his kiss lingered on my forehead.

I stood for minutes looking at the door. I gave up to change into something more casual.

I can't call scarl now she would probably be with edward and I don't want to disturb. I opt for a movie instead.

I switched on the TV set. I covered my body with a quilt with my legs folded inward. I changed the channel finding something interesting to watch.

I threw the remote control away out of frustration. On wearing a flip flop,I head out.

Somehow I found myself in aidens office. Trying to tidy out his table, a letter flew out of a book. I squat to pick it up. It looks old and powdery on my palm.

Balancing on his seat, I opened the letter unbothered. I never knew how it left my hand. I began to tremble unknowingly, I could not even control my hands.

I returned the letter in its rightful place before walking out. Slowly I passed the kitchen and other rooms not conscious of the environment.

I just pulled the duvet over my head and  slept off. My eyes closed but my mind was racing hard.

I yawned stretching my hands on opposite side. I slowly moved out of bed with out disturbing aiden. Heaven knows when he got back.

I stood in front of the washing basin,staring into the mirror absent minded. Filled my hands with water running from the tap.

A scary image appeared from the mirror.i tried screaming and calling for aiden but nothing came out. My mouth was just moving but no sound.

I started hyperventilating. Breath in breath out I tell myself trying to steady my intake of air.

Fearful I raised my eyes up to the mirror. To my surprise nothing was there. I dragged my hand down my face still nothing changed.

Moving backward,I tripped on something i'm yet to identify. Fear soared through allowing all the hairs on my body to stand.

I froze on the floor unable to move. My heartbeat was loud enough to be heard. It drowned the running water draining down the basin.

I picked the item I tripped on and it turned out to be my toothbrush. I rinsed it with the running water before stopping the flow.

I looked around still feeling uncomfortable then I walked into the room. Quietly enough i laid on the bed trying not to alarm aiden.

Forcefully I closed my eyes trying to think about what I saw earlier. I felt a hand around my waist pulling me closer.

I felt dumb and tense but later I relaxed against his touch. Promise me you will protect me. I thought before loosing consciousness.
