Aiden's Point of View
Jealousy coursed through me when she hugged her best friend. Of course, I haven't been told or informed if the other girl was her best friend but the way they both behaved around each other told me of the deep relationship between the two of them.
Although that would have sounded like a good thing, the only emotion I felt was that of envy and jealousy. That was supposed to be us. It was supposed to be me in her arms. It's what I want. It's what we, me and Alec, both want.
The thought made me growl lowly but I had deliberately made it sound impatient in hopes that she would understand that I did not like being kept waiting. The hug was taking longer than I had originally expected.
Luckily, she seemed to have gotten the message and had pulled away from her friend. I took the chance to take her hand and pulled her in the car, instructing Raymond, my personal guard who occasionally drives during important events, to step on the accelerator.
I took a small moment to watch Jane as she smiled beautifully. The way her lips curved up brought up a sudden warmth spreading in my chest. Her face lit up as she waved at her best friend and her pack Alpha but underneath it, I can still see something dimming down.
As soon as they were out of sight, her smile quickly dropped down, replaced by a sigh as she gently placed her hands on her lap. My eyes unconsciously followed the movement, carefully studying every edge of her creamy fingers like a predator as though they were the most fascinating things in the whole world.
When she had caught me staring, her cheeks were immediately painted with a beautiful fifty shades of red, prompting my eyes to darken at the attractive sight. However, the killer display was quickly hidden away when she had embarrassingly lowered her head to look at her lap.
Silence began to consume us and so was a small quarter of skittishness in her part, rendering my wolf restless. Sitting down with her in a silent place is prompting Alec to imagine things he was not supposed to think of.
Thus, I decided to break it. I lifted her face up to meet mine and held her hands for comfort and assurance as I told her, "You don't need to be shy when you are with me."
She politely nodded while her cooling cheeks began flushing pink for the second time. I lightly smiled, loving the way she blushes especially for me. I raised her hands to my lips and peppered each of her knuckles with soft kisses before interlacing then with mine.
Tiny sparks tingled from where out skin touched, sending a series of pleasant chills up my spine. Damn! Alec is losing it. He is ready to mark her right here, right now.
However, I couldn't rush things. I don't want to rush her. I quietly warned Alec, telling him that we need her permission before doing so while knowing that it can't be today. After all, we just met and there's still plenty of time. She would want us to know each other before going far.
"Alpha Aiden, we have arrived," Raymond gladly asserted, interrupting my thoughts about marking. I looked out and noticed that the car had already been parked inside the pack garage which is only a few kilometers away from the pack house.
I immediately exited the car and quickly rushed to my elegant mate's side, wanting to open the car door for her. "Milady," I curtsied with a bow for her. I smiled when I saw her smirk before carefully placing her precious foot on the humus of my pack.
Her arrival drew more attention than I imagined when we had finally fully gotten in. Everyone was very eager to meet their Luna ever since they had been informed. Every wolf bowed to us, to her, when we walk by them, showing utmost respect to her worthy presence
I quietly but happily watched her reactions, smiling when I noticed her grin from ear to ear at the sight of the immediate acceptance. Unfortunately, she had slightly bowed her head to hide her happiness.
My first reaction was to wrap my arms around her and tell her not to hide her beautiful face but before I could, a malodorous scent suddenly passed by, filling the atmosphere and disrupting the peaceful moment. My eyes narrowed, smelling danger.
I scanned the area, looking for the origin and my sight stopped on the direction of an open field, just a few kilometers from where I was standing. Without wasting anymore time, I quickly mindlinked my Beta to look after Janet for the meantime.
I quickly bolted to the field, tracing the danger with the scent that was lingering. However, the scent was quickly fading the more I neared the site. I had already detected a male rogue and he must have detected me as well, running away as I move closer to him.
When the scent was totally gone, I finally stopped, closing my eyes in disappointment. "Everyday is for the thief, one day is for the owner," I muttered to myself before leaving the field without looking back.
He was out of my radar but a part of me knows that he is still around the vicinity so I alerted Brian to place able bodied man at the border on a 24/7 service. I would be needing a maximum security, especially with my beloved mate here.
But despite knowing that my men will be guarding the pack, I was still feeling unsettled. I sense danger in every dimension and as long as I don't have a culprit taken then I can't be too at ease. I must get to the bottom of this and make sure to find the person who sent him.
It has been ages since something like this had happened. No one has ever actually dared to do so which had me thinking if we have a traitor among us.
I shook my head and concentrated on my mate for now. The parking area was as silent as a graveyard when I had gotten there yet Janet's presence is still everywhere. It felt like she's everywhere, her scent and her aura, tingling from all the nooks and crannies of my pack land.
Black Crescent has felt her aura. It seemed to be awakening like a lion preying on its meal.
I looked around and only after making sure that she wasn't here did I begin to move inside the pack house. Just as I wanted, Edward had taken her to my room so I headed inside.
I carefully opened the door, thinking it wouldn't make a sound but instead, its crankiness erupted inside like a volcano that has been inactive for decades.
Much to my expectation, I found a ball on my bed under the covers, moving and wriggling, seemingly unaware of my arrival. I closed the door, almost raising my eyes when it silently closed unlike when it had opened while staring at the way the covers carefully traced her curves like how an artist would have done.
After spending a lot of time staring at my little mate, I finally snapped out of my creepy behaviour and walked towards the closet to strip off all the clothes I was wearing then disposed them into the laundry basket.
Just when I was about to move, I suddenly perceived a foreign scent in the bathroom. I looked around, trying to find where it was coming from and smiled when I realized where it was from.
She must have showered while waiting for me. The sweet strawberry scented body gel would only belong to nobody else in this room but her.
I finally entered the shower then quickly came out, feeling a cold breeze blowing on my semi-wet body. I pulled my robe, wearing it initially before taking it off after deciding to sleep in a biker shorts.
So much excitement filled me at the thought of sleeping next to my mate that I was quickly out of the bathroom then strolled towards the bed, gently pulling the covers properly on her before resting on the right side of the bed.
I watched her sleep for a moment, feeling my heart skip a beat while looking at how cute she looks even while sleeping. She was so tempting that I leaned down, about to kiss her lips before moving to her forehead and softly planted my lips on the smooth skin.
"Goodnight, my love," I whispered as quietly as possible to avoid disrupting her beauty sleep.
Content washed through my heart as I settled down and closed my eyes. I felt brand new and so light just thinking of her. The missing piece of my jigsaw puzzle has finally been fixed correctly.
A wave of euphoria and at the same time, hysteria filled all the vacuum space in my body. This moment is really rather perfect but somehow, something still just doesn't feel right but I'm unable to interpret whatsoever it was.
