Natsuki remembered the day like it just happened yesterday, the day she met her best friend.

It was her sixth grade year, and she didn't know anyone in any of her classes.

It was her math class where she met her new best friend, Sayori. She shared science with her as well.

They were sat next to each other at the end of the year, last quarter, and from that moment when Sayori took her new seat next to Natsuki, they imediately clicked without a word.

But this was years later, into their Senior year in highschool, and they still managed to stay together and by each other's side through all the drama and crushes.

"It's our last year in highschool Natsuki! We've gotta go out with a bang!" Sayori jumped, but Natsuki only rolled her eyes and opened her locker. "Sayori, every year is the same, but this year we graduate, nothing different." Natsuki grabbed a few textbooks from her locker, looking back to the peach-haired girl. "How about joining a club! Hmmm lets see..." Before Natsuki could protest, Sayori dashed over to the bulliten board.

It usually had clubs that needed members on it, along with sports sign ups.

"Oooh, Natsuki you like reading manga don't you!?" Sayori shouted across the hall from the bulliten board, causing Natsuki to rush over and cover Sayori's mouth with her hands. "Don't say it that loud!" Natsuki scolded, Sayori slowly taking Natsuki's hands off her mouth. "But you do! You're always telling me to read them, but then you brag about who's the better pair." Sayori exclaimed, looking back to the bulliten board while Natsuki tried her best to hide her sudden blush.

"What about the literature club? Manga IS literature after all, and they're desperate for members." Natsuki pointed to the flier on the board advertising the literature club. "We're the best thing to go into this club Sayori, we'll show them how great manga is!" Natsuki smiled, pulling Sayori into her side. "Literature it is then. Meet back here after school and we'll go." Sayori instructed, pulling herself away from Natsuki.

Both girls parted to their first classes, and the day seemed to go slower with every class that passed.

At lunch, Natsuki brought the next volume in the manga her and Sayori started getting into.

Natsuki never knew how she did it, but she convinced Sayori to like manga. Of course Sayori didn't force herself to like it, but she enjoyed reading with Natsuki.

"Ready?" Sayori smiled, trotting over to Natsuki's side to head to the literature club.

Natsuki went on and on about how they were the best thing to ever happen to this club, while pointing out reasons here and there how manga was 100% literature.

"You go Sayori, you're better at talking..." Natsuki hid behind Sayori, who opened the door with a smile.

"Oh... Monika who's there?" An unknown voice come from the room, but Natsuki stayed hidden.

"Don't mention me... Don't mention me... Sayori this is already bad enough just get us in..."

No surprise though, Sayori stepped to the side to reveal Natsuki.

"Darn it Sayori..."

"My friend Natsuki and I would like to join your club!" Sayori grinned, but Natsuki only crossed her arms, holding the manga volume close to her chest.

Natsuki finally looked up, seeing a girl with light-brown hair in a ponytail, held together with a white ribbon.

The other girl standing beside her had purple hair, with a light purple hair clip. She was also holding a novel, which Natsuki couldn't see the name of.

"You're welcome to join, we're always looking for more members." The light- brown-haired girl stepped to the side.

Sayori grasped Natsuki's hand, pulling her into the room.

Sayori took Natsuki over to a pair of desks in the back of the room.

Sayori grabbed Natsuki's manga, opening to the page they stopped on and setting it on the desk.

"Here pull that over here." Sayori looked at the desk infront of Natsuki, so Natsuki did as told and pushed the desk to touch the one the manga had been placed on.

"Okay everyone, club time is up! I think now that there's four of us, and we're an official club now, we should start a daily activity. Your assignment tonight is to write a poem, and tomorrow we will share them with one another." Natsuki knew the president's name, as they were interrupted while Sayori and her were reading manga to get introduced to everyone.

By everyone, it's just the only other two people in the club, Yuri and Monika.

"See? It wasn't that bad!" Sayori smiled while they both walked home. "Yes, but I'll have the best poem out of all of them, including book-lady Yuri!" Natsuki boasted, placing her hands on her sides. "Natsuki we just met them, we can't get on their bad side already!" Sayori interjected. "Yes, but aren't we going out with a bang?" Natsuki grinned.

Sayori chuckled, facepalming.

"Natsuki, you're missing the point."

"Well if you want a positive first impression, we can just make cupcakes!" Natsuki said. "But it's not like I want to make them cupcakes, poems is already a stretch." Natsuki quickly followed up on her statement.

"Well, not tonight, but maybe another time." Sayori said, taking a turn to her own house.

"Poetry, how bad can it be? It's just words with a sad meaning."

Natsuki sat in her room, notebook in lap and pen in hand, brainstorming millions of scrapped ideas.

"If I can't write about something, I'll write about someone..."
