SunshineIt lights up my life
Even in the darkest of rooms
It's always there to make the room brighter
Because in the darkest of nights...
The only light is you my sun
And I am the darkness you cure
Natsuki smiled at the poem and put it in a random folder. She'll remember which one later.
Natsuki waited at the school's entrance for Sayori, who arrived late.
"Sorry Nat! I accidentally slept past my alarm.." Sayori ran to Natsuki's side, and both started on their way to school.
Natsuki and Sayori hadn't talked on their way, nor did they before they spit up for their first periods. Natsuki did know how to speak, but she didn't have a reason to, and she couldn't figure out why. Despite wanting to say at least hello, she couldn't.
During her classes, she read ahead in the manga her and Sayori started together. Despite being called out for it multiple times, she continued to do it.
"Natsuki, something bothering you?" Sayori asked Natsuki at lunch.
"I wish I knew what was wrong Sayori, but I don't..."
Natsuki turned to Sayori.
After having eye contact for a minute, Natsuki abruptly threw herself at Sayori and embraced her tightly.
"N.. Natsuki..?" Sayori was just as confused as Natsuki.
"Here lets.. Talk about it outside.." Natsuki pulled away, grabbing her trash to throw it away.
Outside at recess, Sayori and Natsuki sat down at a picnic table. They had the manga, but it layed on the table.
"What did you.. Want to talk about Natsuki..?" Sayori asked, resting her cheek in one hand. "I.. I have... This person I keep thinking about..." Natsuki explained, looking away in embarrassment.
"Even I don't know who it is, so don't bother asking. I have an idea though, but it's very unlikely. Gee, I sure sound like Yuri..."
Sayori imediately stood up from the seat. "Natsukiiiiii!" Sayori squealed, jumping up and down with joy. "You have a crush Natsuki! Oh my gosh!" Sayori shouted, but Natsuki once again threw herself at Sayori and tackled her to the floor. "Don't say it that loud!" Natsuki scolded her, and proceeded to push Natsuki off. "Fine... But can you tell me who?" Sayori and Natsuki sat back down. "That's the catch, I don't even know who it is..." Natsuki repeated. "Well, try and figure out who it is by the end of the day. You can tell me after the club." Sayori smiled.
"Oh right, the club... I totally forgot.."
Just after, the whistle was blown. "Well, we can read in the club okay? See ya there!" Sayori shouted to Natsuki as she ran to her line to go inside.
"Just try and figure out before the club, it can't be that bad."
Natsuki picked up the manga and started running to her own line.
Club time arrived sooner than Natsuki anticipated. Thoughts raced through her head on her way to meet up with Sayori.
"I haven't had a feeling like that in a long time... But after recess, I didn't really think about anyone..."
"What if it's... No! I couldn't possibly..."
Natsuki looked upward, fighting her sudden blush at the thought.
"She isn't that way, and I'd know.."
Natsuki waited for Sayori, and when Sayori arrived they headed in their way to the literature club.
"So did you find out who you keep thinking about?" Sayori eagerly asked. "U.. umm.. No! I didn't! As a matter of fact, I haven't thought about them since recess. It had to have been a phase." Natsuki stated. "Aww man... Even in high school we're still single pringles..." Sayori pointed, but Natsuki just scoffed in response.
"Hello everyone! So today we are sharing the poems we wrote last night, so go ahead and get those out." Monika smiled, standing at the front of the room while the other three girls sat at the desks.
Natsuki took our her poem and quickly scanned it. She had written it about a person, more specifically Sayori.
Yes, as much as Natsuki hated to admit it, she cared enough to write a poem about somebody.
"Go ahead and choose who you share with first, but eventually everyone will read each other's poems." Monika got her own poem out and dashed over to Yuri, who had a smile appear when Monika arrived at her side.
"Hey Natsuki, here's my poem!" Sayori said, handing Natsuki her poem.
"Typical Sayori, always happy... So happy it makes me happy in an instant.."
"Can I read yours Natsuki?" Sayori smiled to Natsuki. Natsuki liked Sayori's poem, despite it focusing mainly on breakfast. "Fine! Here! Read it!" Natsuki shoved her poem I Sayori's hands, who struggled to not drop it.
Natsuki crossed her arms and looked away, but she did this for two main reasons.
1. She didn't want to see any negative faces Sayori might make
2. She was doing her best to win a battle against a sudden blush
"Nat... Hey Natsuki?" Sayori poked Natsuki in her upper-chest reigon.
This definitely brought Natsuki back from her little imaginative reality.
"H.. Hey! Don't touch there Sayori! You frickin' pervert!" Natsuki snapped. "There's the Natsuki I know and love!" Sayori giggled.
"Know and.. Love? No way... She's just a friend..."
"So what do you think of the poem?" Natsuki asked, trying to evade the subject. "I liked it, but just know I'm here for you always. Got it?" Sayori placed a hand on Natsuki's shoulder, making direct eye contact.
"S... Sayori! Can you stop touching me!" Natsuki pushed Sayori's hand off her shoulder.
"You girls alright? Natsuki seems to be throwing a tantrum huh Sayori?" Monika giggled. Natsuki turned to see both Yuri and Monika watching them.
"Fricking Monika! How long were they watching...?"
"We're alright. It's Natsuki we're talking about so there's bound to be tantrums." Sayori responded.
"Well Monika... Seems it's time to go.." Yuri spoke out. "Oh, you're right Yuri! Well, we'll do another poem tonight. That's all I ask, see y'all tomorrow!" Monika smiled.
Natsuki and Sayori walked home together as usual.
"Natsuki, you know your tantrum mode is really cute for you..." Sayori complimented Natsuki, but of course Natsuki didn't exactly see it that way.
"I'M NOT CUTEEEEEEEEE!!!!" Natsuki shouted, but it only made Sayori laugh.
"See? Right there was adorable Natsuki! You'll win the heart of whoever you were thinking of for sure."
The girls parted ways, and a million thoughts raced through Natsuki's head.
But one stuck like glue.
"What if the one I was thinking about... Was Sayori...?"
