"Okay Geno, I'm off to work!" The grim reaper called out, only to be met with silence. He let out a sigh and walked over to the old fireplace, taking down a small white vase from the shelf there. It was a shiny ivory color with beautiful red etching, writing out the name 'Geno'.

Reaper fixed the red scarf that hung loosely around his neck as he hugged the container that held the dust remains of his now deceased husband. Hugs always seemed to bring him some form of comfort, but he couldn't deny they also felt empty and hollow. He missed his beloved husband.

"Life invited me over again..." I don't want to go, but she's really worried. Everyone is..." Reaper stated, carefully putting the vase back in its place. Since Geno's death, he's been wanting to do nothing but stay in his home alone. Goth by then had moved out and married Palette, but visits from time to time to make sure Reaper was doing okay.

Reaper's friends understood and gave him plenty of time to grieve. Gaster was even nice enough to give him a few days off. Of course, being the grim reaper, he had to go back to work after a bit. Unfortunately, Reaper was having trouble moving on and his best friend, Life, had been pestering him for a while to pay her a visit.

Reaper thought for a minute before speaking to the vase again. "Maybe I should. I mean, she's only trying to help so I guess I can stop by.." he muttered before heading out. "I'll be back later. Love ya, Gen!"

Silence.

After work, Reaper teleported to Life's garden. He remembered when this place used to calm him and became a nice little sanctuary for him to escape work. Now it did nothing to bring him joy. "Sans! It's so good to see you. How are you holding up?" Life asked carefully. Reaper nodded.

"Fine. Sorry, I've been dead on my end." he joked, though instead of laughter he only felt a pang of pain. Life noticed this and frowned a bit before shaking it off.

"Don't you worry, I know this has been hard for you. Which is why I wanted to see you." She said rather cheerfully, waving him over to a small table with a tea set on it. Reaper sighed and followed, sitting on the spare seat.

After a few moments reaper spoke up. "So.. why did you want to see me so badly?" He asked, taking a sip of his tea.

"Sorry for being blunt on this. I know it's been very difficult for you losing Geno, and I don't blame you of course. Losing a loved one hurts and I know you aren't exactly used to it." Reaper flinched slightly at the mention of Geno's death. She was right, the only other time he experienced death with the people he cared about what with Life. But she came back, Geno cant.

"Lately I've been studying mortals and researching how they get through grief. I thought maybe one of their traditions or methods could help." Life suggested. Reaper felt very uncomfortable with this, but knowing life, he knew she was only trying to help.

"I don't know Life..." he admitted, but life wasn't ready to give up yet.

"Sans, you're not used to this sort of loss. I do recommend some help with something like this." Reaper couldn't argue with her on that. Thinking about it, he figured the way he's been handling Geno's death wasn't exactly healthy. With a sigh, he agreed and let her continue.

Life smiled lightly and began explaining what she had learned. "When mortals die a lot of times their loved ones cremate the bodies, turning them to ash. Sometimes they keep them in vases like the one you keep Geno's dust in and others spread the ashes on a place or item the person loved." She explained.

"However, I found a few creative methods mortals use to keep the ashes." Reaper raised an eyebrow, unsure of what she was getting at. "A few had decided to use the ashes to create glass art. With your permission, of course, I could use my fire magic and turn Geno's dust into another glass lily or anything you'd like." Reaper frowned slightly, not sure of the idea. He thought about it a bit and seeing he did miss having the glass lily Life made him a long time ago.

"Okay.."

-Time Skip-

Reaper was fidgeting with Geno's scarf. He smiled, remembering how his husband used to do that all the time when he was nervous or anxious. He loved his little quirks. His little huffs of anger, the way his face scrunched up slightly whenever Reaper kissed his nose. They way he loved being in the company of others and his slight fear of knives and the dark.

"Sans?" Reaper jumped slightly, realizing he zoned out. Standing up and looking over at Life, seeing her hold Geno's vase. However, instead of his dust, the vase held a beautiful stain-glass Lily. It was shiny and sparkling in the sun, showing its white petals with bright red tips and a healthy green stem.

Reaper took the vase from Life's hands, smiling for the first time in a long time at the sight of it. "It's beautiful Life. It reminds me so much, Geno." Life smiled at his reaction, knowing how much he loved it. "After making the lily, there was still some more dust left so I thought of making you this.." She hummed, taking out a small box, giving it to Reaper.

"Dad?" Goth called out, walking into his old childhood home. Looking around, he spotted the vase that used to hold his mom's dust and instead of seeing the stained-glass flower.

"Goth! You made it!" Reaper said cheerfully, seeing his now-grown son after quite a while. Walking over he gave him a big hug.

"Yeah, I'm glad you're doing better." He stated, hugging his father back. Reaper nodded, letting his son sit on the couch. "So this is the flower you were telling me about? Life has really outdone herself, it's beautiful." Goth commented as Reaper left to go get something in the other room.

"She really has. I'm grateful for it, as well as this." Reaper replied as he came back with the same box Life had given him. Placing it in his son's lap, he sat next to Goth and waited for him to open it. Goth looked at him and the box for a moment before opening it amazed at its contents.

Inside was two beautifully crafted stained glass clips in the shape of small Gaster Blasters, one slightly smaller than the other. "Dad they're amazing! Life made them?" He asked, grabbing the smaller one.

Reaper nodded and grabbed the other one. "She wanted us to have something to always keep with us since we can't exactly take the flower around. It's a way of keeping your mother with us."

"Thanks, dad and thank Life too for making these! I'm sure mom would have loved it."
