whatever happened to Ojoo and Oma nobody knows , but rumour has it that OMA begged CHI to allow her dwell in a river, the peace, the calmness, the serenity, when OJOO realized what happened he asked to share the body of the river with her, most times at midnight when the moon is high and every creature is asleep , one can hear the river roaring,and sometimes rumbling like it's about to erupt , the killings came and passed, the fighting , science. civilisation, now the world is scattered every man for himself,
In a secluded narrow road, Two girls in white cloth clasped tightly round on their chest,both tall and dark-skinned could be seen walking together, clutching in their hands white sand moving gingerly in cautious steps and one could deduce from the way they carried themselves that they were walking on hallowed ground, on their foreheads rested a sign which on a first look would look like a mere circle but on a closer view you'd see oval shapes connected to each other representing the forms of life from the least to the largest
'Do you think we're on the right path Efi because i see nothing" Said one to the other,
The one called Efi opened her mouth to reply but the first took hold of her quickly causing her to spill her white sand and whispered 'Wait i hear something in the bushes" they stopped for a while and listened quietly then the first one said again "oh its just the wind may the gods guide us'
All the while she was talking Efi was too busy looking down on her spilled sand, meanwhile the first unaware started moving but stopped short when she realized Efi stood transfixed staring at the ground 'Nne what is wrong?' she asked moving back suddenly she clasped her free hand in her mouth'Efi's vow is broken' , the gods have turned their backs on them
Efi dropped on her knees weeping noiselessly and attempting to snatch something from the spot where formerly lay her spilled sand already mixed with the black earth the other girl dropped on her knees too and with her free hand stroked Efi's hair in consolation and begged her to stop crying after a while Efi spoke but this time in surprising calm tone for a girl who earlier had shown signs of an apparent break downo
"I must go home and tell the people i failed, the gods need my body now, i must depart now Ewasi, if i dare return home with no news on child birth, our people will cast me away , i'll be alive but death would be better maybe i'll escape their wrath by going straight to AKAN'S shrine and dedicate myself to her for protection i want to be alive Ewasi for your baby, i want to see her and give her my blessings, remember when we were but little , we both dreamed of giving birth on same day' She smiled with her eyes shook herhead slightly and said "Chim eme m Ife' (my CHI has forsaken me)
The other girl who by now we know is called Ewasi looked into her sister's eyes on seeing the pain in them winced slightly knowing full well what the people would do to her if she went back with out bringing good news from OMA she just couldnt bear it so she took hold of the leaf lying by the corner spread it out, poured out her sand and shared it equally, gave one part to Efi saying "we are in this together, if this dont work , we will go back to the people and serve what ever punishment, who knows we might even die in each other's arms after all Nene said when we came out of her belly they saw finger prints on our shoulders each which means we were hugging it out in her womb
Efi smiled 'Trust you to bring in humour even in the face of Da.......
she didnt finish her words because just then the wind rustled, they both shivered and took hold of each other she was still looking around before Ewasi spoke up "lets go now the 6th hour is almost upon us and we must get back before Tethu comes out and suck up our blood to death" Efi laughed "you still believe in those tale our mother used to tell'
"if i were you i'd believe with out questions and yes Tethu is alive and real" said an old woman who sat a stone throw away from them
they both jumped looked at themselves wide eyed, lokked at the woman for what seemed like eternity , no word came out of their mouth it seemed to them as if the air in the whole world was gone and they needed to retain the breath in them, The woman looked at the both from , smiled crookedly and stood up, they noticed how graceful and elegant she stold and for an old woman her body seemed to glitter
Ewasi moved to say something but she held up her long finger in a be-silent-motion and said to the both "Follow me"
