“Baby wake up” Michael said leaning on his arm beside me

“What time is it?” I asked opening my eyes

“10” he smiled softly

I looked down and remembered the events of the night before.

“Was it okay?” he asked looking at me as if he was reading my thoughts. He does that often, which makes me believe he can.

“It was everything I could have dreamed of” I smiled placing a softly kiss on his plump pink lips

“I put your tank on the table so you could move a little when you were sleeping” he said pointing over to the table

“Thank you” I smiled at his small act that meant tons to me than it should

“Anything for you” he smiled getting up

We both got up and got dressed. We decided to skip breakfast and just go home before my parents wondered where I was.

But that was the last night of happiness.

I woke up the next night not able to breathe, I tried to scream what was left of my breath. My mum and dad came in asking me what was wrong, but all I did was cry. That’s all I could do.

My parents took me to the doctors. Apparelntly my lungs filled up with fluid again. They had to drain it out and put in a tube to my stomach. Perks of being a cancer patient.

“Is everything okay?” I heard Michaels voice in the hall

“She’s fine, they put her on medicine so she out of it right now. Ill let you see her when she’s okay” My mum said with hesitation in her voice

She was right, I was out of it. I couldn’t see straight nor could I move. It was like one of those dreams where you can’t move and you feel like you’re paralyzed. I wanted nothing more than to go out and hug Michael and tell him im okay, but I couldn’t.

I stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks. Not having any contact to the human world outside of the white walls of my room. I haven’t seen Michael because he isn’t allowed to come see me. But he has tried so ive heard. My mum said he even got kicked out because when I first got in here he broke in and sat with me waiting for me to wake up.

He never got to, they escorted him out before I woke up.

I sat in the patient sitting room reading the book Michael gave my mum to give to me. It was the one I picked up the first day I met him. Pride and Prejudice.

“I like that book” a girl said to me.

“Oh yeah, it’s a lovely book” I smiled at her.

She was wearing a purple beanie and a sweater. She was very beautiful though, her eyes were the prettiest blue.  Something I could never pull off.

“Im Anna” she smiled

“Im Aspen” I smiled back putting my book down on the small table.

“I have leukemia” she said taking off her hat showing her bald head.

“I have lung cancer” I slightly smiled.

“My mum had that” she said “She died when I was 4” oh.

“Oh im sorry darling” I said holding her hand. It was cold, a lot like mine were.

“Its okay, I don’t remember her much.” she sighed.

We talked a bit longer about her favorite movie or her favorite singer until the nurse came and told me that my mum was waiting for me to go home.

“Bye Anna” I smiled at her

“Bye Aspen. Oh tell your friend with the pink hair that I had fun playing monopoly with him” she said walking into her room.

Boy with the pink hair? Michael.

“They are finally letting you go home ,love” my mum smiled at me as I walked in

“Yeah that’s what the nurse said” I said getting my bags

“Michael is at our house waiting for you” my mum laughed

“Really?” I asked

“Yeah, hes been so worried. He really loves you, aspen” She smiled at me

“I know” I smiled to myself “Did he ever stay in the waiting room?” I asked

“All the time, he actually played monopoly with this little girl a couple of days ago. They were talking all about you” she said standing at the door way

I didnt say anything but smiled and followed her to the car.
