Please Remember Me (Jai Brooks)

I like him?

I tapped on my contacts then scrolled down to J.

I clicked on Jai making his number pop up; my left thumb was only a centimetre away from the call button. I twiddled my thumb around it, contemplating if I should just do it or not. A sigh of frustration left my lips as I laid on my back with my head hanging off my bed; then, I accidentally fell of my bed and my phone dropped on the soft white carpet that surrounded my room.

Such a dork.

I sighed and reached for my phone before realising that I had already pressed the call button and it was ringing.

IT WAS RINGING.

My hand froze in mid-air as I stared in horror at my ringing phone. 

"Hello?" I heard a muffled voice coming from my phone. 

Shakily, I slowly picked it up with my eyes squinted shut, preparing myself for the embarrassment that inevitably laid ahead for me.

"Please don't be Jai and be Jasmine," I said quietly.

Jasmine's my cousin who lives in Perth, she's the next contact after Jai.

I slowly opened my eyes and scanned the name on my phone screen.

Jai.

"Fuck!" I loudly yelped.

"Skylar? Is that you?" Jai asked. I slapped my head for being so unbelievably stupid and fell on my bed.

"Yeah, it's me," I sighed.

"Did you just slap yourself?" he wondered.

"Possibly," I said rubbing my forehead.

"You sound annoyed. What's wrong?"

"Er... nothing," I loudly burped into the phone; my hand flew to cover my mouth hoping he did not hear it. 

DAMMIT! WHY DID MUM HAVE TO MAKE BEAN CHILLI?

"Did you just burp?" He chortled.

"Uh, no - no! Absolutely no burping taking place here... We must have terrible connection."

"Skylar," he chuckled slightly, "You live next door to me..."

Nice going, genius.

"Skylar, I know something is wrong - just tell me," Jai said unconvinced.

"Tired that's all," I liked.

My ears picked up whispering in the background but I could barely hear it.

"Is it Skylar?"  Luke said.

"No, go away," Jai mumbled.

I heard the phone drop and some muffled noises, someone running up the stairs, door slamming, banging on the door.  

"Hey Skylar!" Luke said laughing.

"Uh, hey Luke, what happened to Jai?" I asked curious.

I could hear Jai shouting, "Open the door Luke!"

"Oh nothing, he just angry at me- so the usual."

I laughed.

"How come you gave Jai your number but not me?" Luke asked concerned.

"He begged for it my first day at Penola. I couldn't really say no."

"How desperate is he?!" Luke chuckled.

"Very," I laughed.

"I heard that!" a muffled Jai yelled.

How cute.
