The next morning when i woke up i jumped in the shower then get dressed before waking up Josh making him do the same thing. We head down stairs to see Nik in the kitchen, i know he came home late last night and i catch a familiar perfume smell on him even though i know he showered. That’s when my phone vibrates and i see that Caroline texted me letting me know that Carol Lockwood is dead and everyone believes my uncle was behind it. That was the smell, “what did you do uncle Nik?” i ask with a level voice.

“What do you mean?” he asks innocently.

“Please stop trying to feed me bullshit uncle,” he gives me a semi shocked look, “i am gone for one day and you kill someone,” i basically yell.

“Elisha,” he sounds hurt when he says this, “i killed her because Tyler forced me to kill all of my hybrids,” he says looking down at the counter, “i didn't want to, but they were no longer loyal and they were going to leave,” he looks up at me with tears in his eyes, “he took the one thing i wanted so i took something dear to him,” i'm quick to move around the counter and pull him into a hug.

“Why didn't you call me?”

“I didn't want to disrupt your time to relax with Josh,” he tells me pulling away.

“And i would have came back,” i tell him, “i will be here for you no matter what, you may be my uncle and you maybe my cousin also, but it does not change the fact that i promised Ansel that i would aid you in any way possible for as long as i walk this earth beside you,” i say to him.

“That’s the first time you used his name,” he says looking at me, “that night that you told me about him you never once said his name.”

That’s when it hit me, he’s right, i could never bring myself to say his name, “yeah, because i could never bring myself to admit that he is dead, i like to think that he is out traveling the world not buried in the ground probably with a building or something over him,” i say shaking my head slightly looking down at the ground. When i look back up i see someone with long, dark hair making me jump back slightly worrying my uncle.

“What’s wrong?”

“Ansel,” i whisper grabbing the man's attention.

“Elisha?” he asks and i nod slightly.

“He’s here?” Nik asks.

“Yeah he is Nik,” i say still looking at my ghost of a uncle.

“My boy,” he states, “you’ve done well protecting him, even from Mikael.”

“You don't know?” i ask and he gives me a confused look, “Mikael learned how to accept us for who we are,” i say.

“He died trying to avenge Elisha’s death,” Nik adds even though he can't see Ansel.

“There is nothing to protect him from anymore,” i say looking at Nik and smiling, “and if anyone tries to take anyone in my family down i will kill them without hesitation,” after i say this Josh walks back into the kitchen.

“Elisha,” he says making sure he has my attention, “Damon wants to talk to you, he said that he texted you the address,” i nod to this pulling out my phone, “i’ll be at the lake house checking up on everyone.”

With that he leaves the house and i turn to Nik after reading the text, “do you want to check in on the young Gilbert?”

“Yeah,” he says with a nod and i ignore Ansel's questions as i walk out of the room to grab my keys before heading to the car.

With in a couple minutes we were at the Gilbert’s lake house, “last time i was here Elena shoved a dagger into my father’s heart,” i say looking at the front of the house, “then again we did break down the door with a handful of rocks,” i laugh at this, “come on let's see how well the little hunter is doing.”
