This time he was very dissatisfied to wake up. He wanted to talk to Coal more and tell her about the Rainforest and NightWings and IceWings, and as he came to think about it, all the other tribes as well.
As he became more awake the thought of Autumn and Stargazer came to him and he remembered he had to tell them everything. He had a feeling that the white dragon Autumn had seen in her dream was a PureWing, because when he thought pure he thought white.
He stood shakily to his feet and stood at the edge of the platform. He took a deep breath and stretched his long black wings. Jumping off the platform, he glided to the streets and landed, as he did, accidentally bumping into a NightWing close to his size with a necklace holding a blue topaz crystal.
"Oh I'm sorry," Shadow said quickly, taking a step back.
"No that was me, sorry." The NightWing said, ruffling her wings and fixing her necklace delicately.
Shadow felt like he had seen the necklace before, but shook it off as they passed each other.
In a few minutes he was at Autumn's vine house and walked inside. He spotted her slumped over the counter, snoring. He walked up beside her but thought twice about it, thinking that she might be dreaming about the PureWings. He felt confusion and then hints of understanding coming from her as she slept, as though she was having a conversation with someone.
He decided it was rude to watch a dragon sleep, and tried to find something to eat. He saw an eggplant on the counter and a basket of mangos in a container close to it. He picked one up and made sure it was in fact a mango before taking a bite.
It was a while before Autumn woke up and she did with a startled burst.
"Everything okay?" Shadow asked, turning around from a box of bananas, his snout stained with orange.
"Oh. Why are you...?" Autumn blinked.
Shadow glanced down at the fruit in his talons and set it in back in the crate.
"Um. Well, I'm glad you're here I guess. I was having another dream about the other tribe and I have a lot to tell you." Autumn said.
She told him how in her dream she had been talking to a dragon named Shimmer, who was, in fact, a PureWing. She had told Autumn the same story Coal had, except with a different suspective.
Apparently Shimmer's entire family had been lost to the lack of food and the war, and she was living in the palace. Queen Dove had willingly given the DreamMessage to her to let her communicate other tribes for help. Shimmer had been a trying to visit the MossWing tribe when she stumbled upon Autumn, who she had thought at first had been a MossWing.
"What about you?" Autumn asked.
He told her about his dream and she nodded.
"We should go to – um – Starwatcher...?" Autumn said, not knowing the name.
"Stargazer." Shadow corrected.
They walked together to Stargazer's house but before they entered she walked out the door.
"Oh hey Shadow!" she exclaimed. "And you too." She added, looking at Autumn. "So guys, I came up with a name for us." She said, tracing a claw along the ground. Shadow didn't try to stop her though, since it may only make things worse. "How do you like: Moons of Ash?"
"It's pretty good." Autumn said with a nod. Shadow threw her a look that said, "Don't encourage it" and cleared his throat.
"Star, did you have another dream tonight?" he asked.
