"I want to know about what it's like outside the palace walls, and...and why your rebelling against my father." Kaia asked. The prisoner looked up and sighed, then scratched her chin. She looked back at Kaia and shrugged."Okay," she simply replied. Kaia couldn't believe she was giving in so easily.
"Also, what's your name?" The girl looked up at her with an annoyed look. She dropped her composer for a second and sighed.
"My name is Sage. Don't bother telling me yours, princess." She practically said that last part with a growl. She could already tell she hated her guts. She slightly grunted at her response. I shouldn't be taking crap from a prisoner.
"Well then, Sage, to bad. My name is Kaia. Now, can you tell me?" She rolled her eyes and got up from her cot, then walked over to her. Kaia could see her a lot better now that she was in the dim light coming from a lantern on the wall behind her. Sage had a sharp nose but it wasn't small. She had big bright eyes and perfect lips that weren't to big or small. Her face was outlined with shadows, with a scar that ran down her jawline. Get some makeup and nice clothes on this girl and she would be strikingly beautiful. She noticed herself staring and looking her up and down, then quickly looked away, blushing a bit.
Sage didn't seem to notice, and started to talk. "Well, times are getting harder. As the king takes over more and more land he drives out anyone that isn't human. We have to keep running. Anyone who is on the kings side calls us monsters. Even though they are the real monsters. There is also a legend about the descendants of the king, who have a strong magical power--" Kaia interrupted her with a slightly excited voice.
"Oh yeah! I've heard about that. But I really couldn't believe its true. My father doesn't seem like one to wield that power." She said thoughtfully. Sage rolled her eyes, annoyed that she interrupted her. She looked at Kaia and gave her a slight growl. "Right, sorry. Continue," she said blushing of embarrassment.
"As I was saying. Sometimes it can skip a generation. When your father found out he couldn't use this power he decided to get a heir. So he held a banquet, waited for the prettiest girl..." Kaia got a horrified look on her face. Her father said that her mother died when she was a small child. Now, all she knew is it's some random lady! What else could her father be hiding from her. "Anyways, you were born. Now that your sixteen you will be able to use said power. That's why we tried to kidnap you, so your father wouldn't fill you with lies. He wants to use you--" Kaia started to mumble no under her breath, getting a panicked look. Has her fathers kindness all these years really been lies? Could that smile be hiding all of the evil he was. "Now I'm going to give you a choice. You can either join us, or stay with that madman of a king." Sage bit her lip and gave her an inviting smile.
Kaia grabbed at her clothing next to her heart. She looked around in fear. "I....I don't.." Before she had time to respond someone shouted. She frantically looked down the hall to see three guys running towards her. She jumped up and quickly ran the opposite way they were coming. Her mind was spinning so much she didn't notice the figure that had come around the corner and she ran straight into the guy. She looked up to see the stern face of her father himself. She pushed herself away from him, her eyes watering up with tears. "Y-You," she gulped as the guards caught up to her.
"Yes, hello daughter. What are you doing down here?
I thought I had told you to never come down here." He questioned. He kept his dark tanned face still with composer. His brows furrowed with disappointment. He was dressed in his usual gold armor, with his high boots and grisly stubble at the end of his chin.
"I...I was just.." She searched her brain for responses, but couldn't find the right one. She gulped in fear. Could she even trust her father anymore. She clenched her fists in frustration.
