After Percy had stormed out of Mount Olympus, Jason headed back to Camp Jupiter. His brain was stuffed with so many thoughts he didn't know which ones to give attention to first. So much had happened in only a week. First, Reyna had gone missing. Second, Jason traveled across the United States to New York, the land fabled to be deadly to Roman Demigods. Third, he met Percy Jackson and discovered the Greek gods are real and their Demigods are stronger than the Romans. Fourth, he learned that the gods swapped Reyna with Percy's girlfriend in order to cause an alliance between the demigods for uniting against an unknown evil. Fifth, Percy had declared that he would fight the gods to get Annabeth back and handed Jason an ultimatum: fight alongside the Greeks against the gods, or fight alongside the gods against the Greeks.
When he returned to Camp Jupiter, Jason called for a Senate meeting. Immediatley. He got back, threw on his toga, and went to the Senate building. There, he took back his seat from Octavian who he had reluctantly left in charge while he was gone and informed the Senate of everything. The Greek Demigods, the gods' exchange, and Percy Jackson's ultimatum.
"How date this Graceus tell us to fight the gods or fight the Greeks!" Octavian yelled.
"His ultimatum is unfortunate," another person said.
"We have a decision to make. Ally with Percy and the Greeks, or ally with the gods. Either way, we can't know for certain if we will get Reyna back," Jason summarized.
"Hmph!" Said Octavian. "So it boils down to whether the Greeks or the gods are more dangerous."
Jason gritted his teeth. Octavian had just phrased that so Jason would seem like a dumb fool for saying they should ally with the Greeks. "I think the Greeks do pose a serious threat," Jason said honestly. "The gods said they are naturally stronger than us since they are the children of the gods' original forms."
There was a silence in which all of the Romans took in the fact that they were inferior.
"What do you think we should do, Praetor?" Dakota called from the back, his lips stained red.
"I-" Jason frowned. What did he think? "I think we need to do what's in our best interest."
"Stay with the gods, then?" Someone called out.
Very slowly, Jason shook his head. "Percy Jackson...I've only known him for a matter of hours," he admitted. "But in that time, I learned that he's extraordinarily powerful. He beat Mars in battle at age 12." Gasps resounded in the chamber. "He led the Greeks in battle against Kronos's army in Manhattan." Romans cried out in surprise to hear of the second front. "He fought Kronos single-highhandedly in the throne room of Mount Olympus," Jason added. "And he was offered immortality...which he turned down."
Jason looked around the Senate to be met with wide eyes and slack jaws. He nodded. 'I've never met a demigod so powerful as him. And the way he talks and what I'd heard...I know the Greeks would follow him to Tartarus and back. I'm confident that they, with Percy leading them, will find a way to get their leader back. And if they can, they why can't we?"
"You want us to join them?" A girl yelled from his left.
"Maybe not just yet," Jason compromised. "What if we went to their camp first? We'll learn about them, their strategy for how to get their leader back. We can see just how much of a threat they pose. And if we do decide to team up, we'll be right near Mount Olympus for the attack."
The Roman demigods looked at each other, murmuring their thoughts.
"All in favor," Octavian boomed, raising his teddy. "Raise your hand!" A sea of hands rose into the air-way more than Jason expected. "That's a majority!" Octavian announced.
"Alright Romans," Jason said, swallowing hard. "Go pack your things. We leave for the Greek camp at dawn!"
