Escape

I felt a light slap in my cheek causing me to wake up. I slowly open my eyes while adjusting it to the bright light. Shadows were surrounding me and when I finally remembered what happened I tried to stand up but failed to do so

I looked around at my surroundings and figured that I was tied up in a chair at my basement. Familiar faces were looking at me with expressions I don't know how to describe.

No one was speaking and their intense stare at me made me uncomfortable making me glare at them and started to speak

I sighed first "What is this all about?" Was all I managed to say

Uncle stood up from his sit and moved closer to me "let's start talking then"

"What is your relationship with the masked man?" He asked which made me raise an eyebrow

"Masked man?... obviously we're the same person"

He glared at me and clicked his tongue. His attitude was the complete opposite of the person I knew. I sighed as I figured that this is his real personality

"What were you planning when you attacked us and tried to kidnap Reviel, explain yourself" he said as he glared straight at my eyes

I didn't back down and stared back at him. Telling him that I just wanted to help Reviel will get me no where "explaining it to you would be pointless but believe me when I say this. I did not have any bad intentions at that time" I said with conviction

He was about to speak again but Catrin patted him in the back saying to switch which he did.

As she sat down in the chair in front of me she avoided my gaze and started to talk

"Tell me, who are you working with and what's your connection back in the underworld" She asked with a faint nervousness  in her voice finally looking into my eyes but avoided it immediately

"I'm working with nobody. I escaped the underworld 2 years ago and no one knows that I'm still alive. In other words I no longer am connected back in the underworld." I explained, answering her question

"Then it's our turn to question"

I looked at the person who talked and it was Gil and next to him was Vein

"Just how are you still alive? We saw your dead body, soaked with blood" Gil started and walked towards me.

He put his hands around my shoulder and started to slightly shake me, waiting for my answer while Vein shoved him aside and switched positions with Catrin.

I sighed heavily. I wanted to avoid this question but in the end I really can't "when I betrayed the Cove family death was already upon me. I tried to escape but failed, soon after I was already covered by my blood. I lost consciousness and I thought I was already dead. But later on I was awoken by a sound of a grenade. I don't know how I was still alive but I felt someone carrying me out of that place. The next thing I knew, I was at a  hospital and finally free from that place"

I finished my story and looked at them. They were listening carefully with serious expression plastered in their face

We fell into silence but Vein broke it. The seriousness in her face vanished and was replaced by a smile. Her actions made me confused making me give her a 'what' look

She shook her head and held my tied hands "it's nothing. I'm just happy your alive and free"

Her words made me frown "but now that free life of mine is gone thanks to some people"
