I burst through the door to Oberon's office, feeling the anger inside of me boil.
"Ah, Mykino, back already I see. And how was it with Alastor?" He asked, formally adjusting his glasses from the side.
"Why don't you ask him? I don't see why you allowed him to go with me, did you know he was afraid of killing the assignments?"
Oberon rolled his eyes, "You're exaggerating."
"I don't know if this is a normal thing for old, senile men to stop beleiving what their most trusted employees say, but if you don't want to listen, I'm not going to be the fool to try to get you to. Guess what?! That person you've been wanting to fire so more people can work here? Guess who it is?! ALASTOR, DAMMIT!"
"Mykino, please, calm down."
"Just ask him when he gets here, let him tell you how amazing he did today. And if he lies, I want you to know, you used to trust me. What happened to that?"
Oberon frowned, clearly thinking as he stared in my eyes.
At this point, I was looking pretty desperate.
My right hand extended towards the door behind me, and my line of sight holding his, begging for him to realize what he had been doing.
He risked everything I had, so this loser could work above the others.
He had to know that there was a reason he had hired me to be the one at the top of this department. He had to remember!
I doubt he could tell me a reason for hiring Alastor afterall.
Tonight really proved to me that he was worthless, just as I had picked up.
I gave him a chance, but he screwed it over.
Oberon opened his mouth to speak, but the door opened behind us. I whipped back and scowled once I recognized Alastor.
He had a smug look on his face, his chin raised, his chest puffed, and his hands folded behind his back.
"How are you, Alastor?" Oberon asked, looking over his glasses.
"I am doing alright, and you, sir?" He nodded.
"I'm doing fine. How was it with Mykino?" He asked.
"Miserable hell."
"Elaborate."
"He was late and I had to do it all myself," Alastor lied without a change in expression or posture. I frowned directly at his face, feeling my hands ball into fists out of pure hatred and anger.
If I hear one more lie come out of his filthy mouth, shit's going down.
"Mykino, what he says true?" Oberon directed his attention back at me. I looked ahead, ignoring that Alastor was staring at me with uninterest in this entire conversation.
"Believe what you want, old man. I already told you what happened," I snapped.
He nodded to himself and looked back to the papers on his desk.
The room was silent for a moment until I rolled my eyes and spoke up, "So, what the hell does that mean?"
"You both keep working here. Run along now. Good luck tomorrow night," he replied without looking up from his desktop.
My mouth dropped open.
"Thank you, good day, sir," Alastor nodded and turned to exit.
"Not so fast, you bastard," I spoke up and grabbed the back of his collar. I jerked him back and threw him towards Oberon's desk.
