I paced around my bedroom, waiting for my mom to come back home so I could finally get out of the house. I thought to myself about going outside today, about what I would do. Maybe go in my garden or maybe go to town for a bit. Still unsure, I grabbed the book I'd been reading currently from my bookshelves and plopped down on my bed to read it while waiting.
The book was about an old science book I've been catching up on, as much as it bores me.. It's better than sitting around and doing nothing.
I sighed heavily and shut the book, my thoughts drifting elsewhere. I did truly wonder how life would be if I lived in a different realm, it would definitely be less boring and bland than here.
As I was imagining how different my life could've been I heard the familiar click of the lock from downstairs. I stood up and rushed out of my room, almost tripping as I ran down the stairs.
I looked at my mom excitedly as I turned the corner and saw her and my little sister. She shook her head, unamused, but still smiled at me. "Mom! You're back! How did it go?" She sighed, looking at me with a stern face. I sighed and regained my stature. "Mother, how was the doctors appointment?" I said in a very stuck up and snobby tone. She rolled her eyes. "You'd best not be like that in public darling." "Yeah yeah.. I know, but you know how absolutely boring it is here." She gives me a sympathetic look. "I know sweetie but you have to realize it's how it will always be, despite your protests." I sighed and looked down. "Well that's dumb.." She lifted my chin up, smiling at me. "Maybe one day you'll change things.. But not today darling." I smile faintly. "Who knows.. How was the appointment??"
"It went well, Adeline is a healthy and strong baby." I turned my head to baby Adeline in my moms hands, she was an almost spitting imagine of my mom, except she had blue eyes. Adeline saw me looking and smiled at me, laughing at me as I made a silly face at her, her brown curls bounced happily as she laughed. My mom laughed a little and ruffled my hair. "Quit being so silly, you'll throw us all into a giggle fit." I chuckle and take Adeline from her. "That wouldn't be too bad now would it?" Adeline grabbed a hold of my earrings and started pulling, I quickly removed her fingers and placed her on the couch. "No.. Not in the slightest." Mom looks at both of us as I stay to play with Adeline, a warm smile across my moms face. "Kayda dear, I have to meet with someone in a bit, mind taking Adeline with you?" I nod. "Not at all! I love taking her out."
She walks over to us. "Don't go to the town today okay? People have been acting up lately.. Oh and remember the laws please." I wave my hand as I pick Adeline up once again, a smile on my face. "Don't worry, we'll be just fine!" "And don't forget to cover up your hair." My smile drops and I give my mom a look. "I know, just deal with it okay?" I sigh and nod. "Ooh I have white hair, what a disgrace!!" I dramatically say, rolling my eyes while I'm at it. She walks closer, chuckling happily and kisses my forehead and Adeline's. "I love you both, I'll see you in a bit." I smile softly and rush to get my shoes and cloak on, before walking out the door.
Adeline was strapped to my back as I walked, I could hear her giggling every time I bounced with my steps. She was a really well behaved baby most times. I walked down the road for a bit before I came across the little path I had found when I was a bit younger, I pushed passed the branches and shrubbery until I found myself in my garden. Or so I like to call it. I took in a deep breath and smiled, I loved being out here.
I placed Adeline down on the grass before plopping down myself. She coo'd and giggled as I played with her, we even managed to catch a butterfly. She seemed so interested in it. I smiled at her and an idea popped into my head, I quickly looked around and made sure nobody was watching before I turned back to Adeline. "Hey.. Watch this." I held my hand out and it started to glow dimly before eventually becoming a bright golden light on my palm. She looked so intrigued and fascinated by it, a smile came to my face as I watched her closely. I focused and golden butterflies started flying from my palm, I heard Adeline gasp and giggle, I made them fly around her.
