"I didn't amen to this." Calum sighed in frustration, running his fingers through his tousled hair as all four boys bent down to inspect the smoking engines of the car. It wasn't any good, none of them could even recognize the parts they were looking at.

The sun was almost setting in the horizon and they were supposed to be hitting a bar two cities away, if Calum's car hadn't broken down in the middle of their journey. Black smoke was pouring out from the metal hood and the ignition would not turn on; everything was a disaster.

"Where the hell did you even get this car?"

"From that store... that sells cars? It was new, okay?" Calum argued. He waved his hands wildly to avoid himself of inhaling the black smoke as he closed the hood, giving up on the attempt of checking what was wrong with it.

"Yeah, five years ago!" Michael yelled, trying hard to not get angrier than he already was towards Calum. After all, he didn't know that the car was going to break down. He pinched the bridge of his nose and breathed in and out thirty four times. "What are we going to do? Where are we, even?"

Their surroundings were quite unfamiliar. There was sand, sand and more sand wherever they looked and barely any plants in sight. It was like a big desert, they were in the middle of nowhere if they wanted to be honest with themselves.

"Well. We are in... Kap." Ashton pointed to a broken sign a few metres from where they were standing. The sign looked so ancient and there were missing pieces from it, the sentences stopping halfway.

"No, it says Kaput Town." Luke corrected him gently, picking up a rusting piece of metal by the side of the road. "Huh, what a weird name for a town. Even weirder to call it a town, there's nothing here."

WELCOME TO KAPUT TOWN.

THE TOWN THAT KEEPS YOU-

"Keeps you what?"

"I don't know. Happy? Cheerful, maybe? I don't see anymore pieces."

"Oh hey, would you look at that. Lads-" Michael squinted hard into the distance, his hands above his eyes. "There's some kind of 24 Hour Motel of some sort that way."

"Was that there earlier?" Ashton stood on his tiptoes as Michael pointed towards the direction he looked at. "We can hang out there while we wait for help or something." Turning to Calum who was tapping on his phone, he pointed this out, looking for an agreement with his friends.

"I can't get any reception." Calum swore. Michael, Luke and Ashton checked their own respective phones but to no avail. There wasn't any on theirs, too.

"So, lads..."

Looking at each other, they made an unspoken agreement between themselves. Heaving their bags along, they made their way towards the motel, where they were going to experience another turn in their plans.
