Walking out of the party, Alannah didn't know what to think...or say...or do. She walked to her car, face crumpled in confusion and slowly sunk into the seat. She put her hands on the wheel and took a deep breath. So much had happened that Alannah couldn't comprehend but she thought the only option was to drive home. As she put her car in drive and pulled away from the front of the house she didn't stop even when she heard someone call after her.
6 HOURS EARLIER
Alannah closed her maths copy and sighed with relief. Mr Sugrue turned to the board to write homework for the class but before he could put his pen to the board, the class were whizzing out the door. Classic. As Alannah ran down the stairs to her locker she couldn't help but feel a mixture of excitement and nervousness. That night was the night of Dylan's party. Dylan being Dylan O'Brien. Dylan O'Brien being her ex-boyfriend. Alannah was very surprised to be invited but couldn't help but wonder if Dylan would forgive her for what she had done. She ran up to her best friend Sarah and scared her. Sarah jumped with fright and threw her books up in the air. Alannah was excited to go the party with her friends Sarah Feely, Emma Chamberlin and Tatum Dahl. Though they were going as friends Alannah couldn't help but feel a little bit lonely. Sarah was dating a boy named Daniel Seavey and Emma Chamberlin was dating a boy called Ethan Dolan. Tatum was secretly in love with a boy named Jonah Marais and hoped to see him at the party. Alannah, Emma, Sarah and Tatum all left school together with smiles on their faces. Little did the know they wouldn't last for long...
The girls walked to Emma's house in Donnybrook and flopped down onto the leather couches.
Tatum: Soooooo...WHO'S EXCITED FOR TONIGHT?
Emma: You are Tatum! We can all see that.
Alannah: I swear to god Tatum if you ask us if Jonah will be there I will slap you!
They all laughed and Tatum playfully threw a coushin at Alannah.
Alannah: How are you feeling SarBear?
Sarah: Pretty good seeing as it's Friday but pretty sad seeing as Daniel is still on tour.
Daniel Seavey (Sarah's boyfriend) was a singer and spent a lot of time on tour but spent as much time in Dublin as he could, which wasn't a lot of time.
A: Aw sorry Sarah but at least you have someone to dream about!
S: Speaking of which, why do you think Dylan invited you after you know...the thing.
A: I don't know but I don't care. If I see him I'll say hi but tonight is not about him.
E: Well it is...It is his birthday after all!
Tatum giggled and jumped up and started dancing around the room to Would You Mind by PRETTYMUCH.
After a while the girls began to do they're hair, makeup, nails and put on their outfits carefully picked out to outshine EVERYONE at the party. When they were finally ready and had taken enough pictures to last a lifetime of Instagrams, they all piled into Alannah's car.
When they arrived at the party, it was already in full swing. There were people all over the front lawn dancing, talking and doing...other things. The front door was wide open and when the girls walked in they were met with the smell of alcohol, sweat and aftershave. Emma unwillingly went with Tatum to find Jonah while Alannah and Sarah went to get a drink. When they turned around to head back to the living room they were met with the cute and happy face of Jace Norman. Jace had Science with Sarah and Maths with Alannah. Jace had had a crush on Alannah since primary school but Alannah could never see that he really liked her.
Jace: Hey Alannah! Hey Sarah! How are we feeling on this lovely night.
Alannah: Great thanks! Have you seen Dylan?
Jace's face dropped at the mention of Dylan's name. Jace and Dylan were best friends but Jace was always jealous of Dylan and Alannah.
Jace: Yeah he's in the living room with a few people but-
Alannah: Thanks Jace! Talk later. Come on Sarah.
Sarah mouthed sorry to Jace and followed Alannah into the living room.
When Alannah and Sarah walked into the living room, they spotted Dylan immediately; in the centre of a group of people cracking jokes and generally being Dylan. Alannah and Dylan's eyes met for a split second but before Alannah could say hi, Dylan turned to the girl standing beside him, Laura, a girl in Alannah's class and KISSED her.Yes, full frontal snogging! When their lips parted, he stared right at Alannah and smiled smugly. Alannah took a deep breath turned on her heels and walked swiftly out of the room trying her best to hold back the tears.
