Alannah sat in her seat in Geography thinking about the last hour. A lotttt had happened.She sat twirling a piece of hair on the edge of her hair knowing full well Zach was sitting behind her. After hearing about Dylan and Emma's little love affair, Alannah suddenely didn't feel as bad for cheating on Dyaln with Zach. Alannah "accidentally" dropped her pen on the floor, bent down to pick it up and glanced back at Zach. Alannah was annoyed when she realised Zach wasn't paying attention to her at all but was in fact writting something. She wondered what he was writting. "It's definetly not Geography notes knowing Zach..." Alannah thought. She watched secretly as Zach folded up a small piece of paper and passed it to Michael Foley who was sitting next to him. Zach pointed to someone Alannah couldn't see and Michael began to pass the note. Eventually the note reached the desk it was meant for and it was Tatum's. TATUM'S????? Alannah was beyond confused at this stage. She looked back at Zach with a crumpled face. He looked back at her, smiled and quickly closed his notebook."Too quickly," thought Alannah. She decided to brush it off for now because if she wanted to start a relationship with Zach, she had to trust him.
Alannah was relieved to hear the home time bell at last. The day felt like it had lasted for too many hours. Alannah had brushed off what had happened during Geography between Tate and Zach but it was at the back of her mind. Thankfully, Alannah had not crossed paths with Emma that day and Emma was not on Alannah's bus. However, Tatum was...Alannah decided to subtly bring up the Geography situation.
Tatum: How was you day Alannah? I saw you talkig to Jace, how is he?
Alannah: Not sure. What's going on with you and Zach?
Very subtle Alannah. Nice.
T: Oh...*Tatum giggled.*
A: Well???
T: Well...I started talking to him today after lunch and I realised he is hilarious and GORGEOUS! I have to kind of thank you for kissing Jonah because he is so last year! Zach and I were passing notes today in Geography and-
A: Yeah I saw...What about?
T: Oh! I thought, with Jonah I waited for way too long to make a move so I decided to be frank with Zach and I asked him straight up did he have a debs date!
A: *Alannah grimaced * And what did he say?
T: He said no!
A: HE SAID WHAT?!
T: Exciting isn't it!! I can maybe go with Zach now to get over Jonah but also, he is so dreamy! Emma was right...Anyway, this is my stop. See you tomorrow Alannah!
A: Bye.
Alannah wanted Zach's blood. She was indescribably angry. She wanted to tear her own hair out. She turned her phone on and texted Zach.
A: We need to talk.
Seen.
A: Zach??
Delivered.
That b*tch.
Alannah lay on her bed on her laptop all evening thinking about the Tatum and Zach situation. Was Zach playing her? Had he forgotten about their date? No he couldn't have...What was she going to do about Jonah and Tatum? And Tatum and Zach? And her and Zach? And Emma and Dylan? But most importantly Daniel and Sarah. She texted Daniel and confirmed the details. She wanted to make it up to Sarah after their fight yesterday.That was the problem first on her list. The others could wait. Before Alannah over thought every single little thing, she plunged in her phone, switched off the light, rolled over and fell asleep.
The next day, Alannah felt queasy. Still no reply from Zach. Alannah didn't know exactly how to handle the situation but she decided to shove it as far back in her mind as she possibly could. She got the bus alone to school and went to all of her first classes. She was nervous for lunch time, that's when it all went down. Alannah knew that she would have to pick up her grades because afterall her leaving cert was this year but right now, that was honestly the least of her worries. When the bell rang for lunch time, Alannah raced down the stairs to get to Sarah before she went to the canteen.
Alannah: Look Sarah, I am so sorry for what went down yesterday. I didn't mean what I said. I know how strong you and Daniel are.
Sarah: Its okay Alan. Things were said in the heat of the moment, lets just forget about it. Come on let's go to lunch.
A: Ah ah ah! Not so fast!
S: Sorry, what?
A: I'm not going to let you just accept what I said so I did something smalllll to try and make it up to you. It's very very smallll.
S: Okayyyyyy. You're making me very nervous Alannah.
A: Come on let's go to the canteen.
The two girls began walking to the canteen.
S: I hope it's cake because if it's cake I'll be very very happy.
Alannah laughed.
A: It's better.
Alannah pushed the canteen door open and everyone was silent. Standing in the middle of the room was Daniel Seavey with his guitar slung across his shoulder. He began to sing but befor he could sing more than 2 lines of the song Sarah ran towards him and jumped into his arms.
Sarah: DANIEL
Crying.
Alannah watched happily as Daniel and Sarah embraced and as they cried in each others arms. They smiled thankfully back at Alannah and she wiped away a tear. She was so happy for them. She looked around, looking for Tatum to sit and chat and she spotted her at the back of the room. Zach sat beside her with his arm around her. They were whispering in each other's ears and giggling together. Alannah was fumming and as far as she could see, so was Jonah. She was mortified for him when she saw him walk into the canteen with roses, obviously for Tate, saw Tate with Zach and tried to play it cool. He duped the roses in the bin, shot Alannah an angry glare and sat down with his friends.
Alannah suddenly heard her name being called by Tate. She looked over and Tate was beckoning her to come over. Alannah stood there thinking
"Fuck."
