M I L L I E

The discrete pop of a Snapchat notification alerts and distracts me from my everyday doing, hearing it isn't out of the ordinary. I grabbed my cell as I broke the eye contact with Sadie, my best friend from the states. The screen lit up from the click of the home button, I assumed it would be from Charlie or Paige. To my surprise it was a name I was unfamiliar with,

"Finn Wolfhard?" I muttered aloud.

"Hm?" Sadie said looking up from her book.

"No its nothing." I said as I locked my phone and put it down.

"I heard something along the lines of wolf?" I chucked,

"No it's just some person added me on the snap and I don't recognize his name." I unlocked the phone and show her the notification.

"Huh, I don't recognize it either." I  pull my ponytail to the side of my shoulder.

"That's odd? I'll probably check it out later." I placed it back on the table.

"You don't recognize him from school?" Sadie proclaimed, I shake my head.

"Not at all, I know most people from school. And I doubt he's in year eleven considering I don't recognize his name." I sniffed due to my seasonal allergies.

"Well I guess you'll have to find out later." Sadie said as she shrugged and took a sip of her tea.

"It's just a little weird or strange for someone to be adding me on snap like that. He possibly could not even know who I am." I tapped the table lightly with my nails in wonder.

"Trust me Jammie, I've seen stranger things happen." I giggled with the nickname she called me.

"Dodge, dodge" we both laughed, I picked up the teapot gently and poured a small portion to my new favorite teacup. Sadie recently came to visit from Texas and surprised me with the new set. I was overwhelmed with joy, she knows how much I love my collections. I grab the creamer,

"Milk?" She shakes her head.

"No thank you." I pour a small portion making the tea color a light shade of brown. I stir quietly as we enjoyed this peacefully quiet moment. But then I realized,

"Dodger, I know you just got here from Texas but do you guys plan on leaving soon?" Sadie's happy expression soon dropped to a face of sad.

"Unfortunately, yes. Mom said that work didn't give her enough days for the vacation so we have to head home latest this Saturday." I pouted.

"But England is your home!"

"Millie, I was here for a year, I wouldn't exactly call it home love." My face scrunched.

"But it was the most memorable one for sure." I moved my eyebrows up and down. She giggled.

"Yes of course. Thats the year we met in 8th grade."

"Ah. You mean year nine." She lightly smacked me. Of course considering I live in the UK it's different compared to America. They refer years to grades. I think? Not so sure since I've been in the UK all my life. I sipped my tea or slurped this time and held the cup it close to me. Suddenly Sadie burst out laughing almost making me spit it out.

"WHAT?!" I look at her like shes insane, which she really is. She keeps laughing, and I can see her sorry attempt to stop and explain. But as soon as she starts, she continues to laugh. I crack a smile trying not to, I cover my mouth and try to keep a stern look.

"Sadie what the hell? What's so funny? Is there something on my shirt?" I examine my shirt just in case, to my expectations, nothing. I look up and she's trying to catch her breath. Her laugh was contagious and I was about to join her never ending phenomenon. Soon enough I did, and we were just two idiots in a half empty cafe laughing like animals.
