Kat sat in the bay window, watching  the little kids play. She didn't talk much, for she didn't  have any friends, at the  orphanage. Sure, the little kids would ask her to do stuff, but they werent her friends. The kids her age made fun of her, because she would get adopted and brought back each time.

Kat sighed, and pushed down her sleeves farther, before going to her room. The door was plain, and rotting wood. The bed was grey and the walls were white, and she only had a bed in the center of the room and a small dresser filled with a couple pair of pants and long sleeved shirts. On top of the dresser was a mirror, and next to it was a hairbrush. Kat opened her dresser's bottom drawer, grabbing her book. It was her mother's  before she died. The was "The Secret Garden", By Frances Hodgeson Burnett.

A soft knock rapped on her door. "Yes?" Kat called out, not lifting her head up from her book.

"Hey Sweets," Nikolas said, walking over to where she sat in the bay window. "Hi Nik." She replied, turning a page. "Rereading this, I see." He chuckled.

Kat looked up, seeing tears forming in his ocean blue eyes. "Nik, what's going in?" She asked wearily, scared to know the reason.
Nikolas cleared his throat, "A family is thinking about adopting you, they want to meet you." He said. Kat dropped the book, and tumbled through the air, a small thing rang out when it landed. Kat's heart raced, and her breathing became quick.

"Hey!" Nikolas said, realizing what was happening, "Kat, it'll be okay!" He said, placing his hands into hers.
"No!" She cried, ripping her hands away from his. "None of this will be okay!"
"I'm sorry, but you know the rules, Ms. Judy tells me who to get, and they must meet the family." Nikolas said.
"I guess you'll have to drag me there!" She spat, crossing her arms, her bright blue eyes glaring at him, venom oozing from her words.
"Fine." He said, picking her up bridal style. She squirmed and wiggled, and tried to push herself away from his chest, but he had an advantage of being 5 years older.

She fought him all the way until he plopped her into a chair in front of a couple. She looked up at Nikolas, and gave him her best bitch face.

"You won't run will you?" He sighed.
She pressed her lips into a thin line, before sighing. "Fine, I will talk to the couple but, I will not be adopted!" She said, talking to Nikolas as if the couple wasn't there.

She turn to them, the man looked to be in his early 30's and the woman had dark brown curly hair, with light brown eyes. The man looked incredibly familiar to Kat, but she scanned over him. He had short dark blonde to where it was more of a light brown hair, and green eyes that looked like he was from a fan fiction story.
She stared at them for second before sighing.  "I'm Kat." Was all she said.

The man looked at her. Kat had blonde hair with dull hazel eyes.
"Um, Im Jensen, and this is my wife Daneel." The man said.
Kat nodded. "Cool." She lean back in the chair. "So," She starts looking back at Nikolas. "I've met the couple, can I gi now? Jeremy invited me to a supernatural marathon with him and Martha."

Nikolas sighed, but nodded. Kat perked up, cheering before racing out of the room. He sat down across the couple. "Give her a chance, please.  She's  just had a bad childhood."
Jensen chuckled at the girl. "Im surprised actually, I thought she would fangirl when she mentioned supernatural, but I still want to adopt her, what about you Dan?" Jensen asked.
"Agreed." Daneel said.

Kat sat in her room, reading her book, when Nikolas entered. She didn't glance up from her book, a frown settled on her face.
"Kat, what's wrong?" Nikolas asked.
"Go away, Nik!" She spat, not looking at him, her blonde hair was in a bun.
"No, Kat, talk to me." Nikolas asked, sitting down next to her.
Kat sighed, but placed her book down. "Jeremy kicked me out of the room, because his old friend, Jack was there." She said.
"Oh, Im sorry, Kat." Nikolas said. "So, um, your being adopted, by those one people that you met earlier."
Kat's book fell off her lap, as she tensed, fear etched on to her face. "No." She whispered, her hands trembling. "No, please, no!" She cried.

"Im sorry, Kat, they picked you." He said, standing up, "their waiting downstairs, why don't you pack?"
With teary eyes, and trembling body, Kay nodded, getting up,grabbing her suitcase that she always kept packed. She grabbed her book, setting it inside her suitcase. She wasn't going to run away, not yet, but she will escape them, they won't hurt her. Not today.
