WARNING: this is my first book that I wrote on wattpad, and I wrote it when I wasn't experienced with writing. If you want to read it- go ahead. But please avoid spelling and grammar mistakes.
CHAPTER ONEHi, I'm Josie. I'm 12 and I'm going to Ridgewood High this year. I know, y'all might think I'm rich 'cause I go to Ridgewood. But my folks don't got lots of money. I used to live in a log cabin with Pa, Mama, and Little Tim. After my Mama died last year, it ain't been the same. Pa got a job working for a coal mining buisness last summer. I bet it's hard not being able to see the sun rise. Pa and I used to love watching the sun rise in the morning. But now he's stuck in a cave and I'm stuck with Tim in a smelly rental house with some strangers living in our basement. But I guess its all right. I still got Rocky as my pal. I've raised that pup since he was the size of a loaf of bread. I remember when Mama and I found Rocky at a gas station. I told Mama I wouldn't ask for Christmas presents for five whole years if we could take Rocky home. Mama laughed and said "Anything for my baby girl". Mama always called me her ''baby" girl. I thought I was getting too old to be called a "baby girl", but now I would do anything to hear her voice say those two words again.
Well, I better tell you 'bout myself. I have long (boring) brown hair that I have been waiting for years to chop off. I have hazel eyes just like my Pa's. And of course I have a little seven year old brother named Tim. I like to call him Little Tim 'cause he's so tiny he can fit into our pantry (And our pantry is VERY small). Like I've said, my Mama died around my last birthday because of illness. I always thought Mama just had some little cold, but the day she died I found out she had a bad case of the flu. I know Pa wanted to get her to our doctor for a flu shot, but we didn't have the money. Mama never had no funeral or nothing. Mama and I love animals, but I''ve always wanted a horse. My best friend is Little Tim and Rocky, I don't really got no other "friends". I'd much rather hang out with Tim than some little girl. I also love to sing with Pa. But ever since Mama died, I've been singing solo.
