13. HISTORY.
. . . .
WHEN the last few words were uttered, Taehyung immediately rose his guard and became more cautious. The warm and comforting atmosphere were long gone, thrown to the back of his head as if it never occured in the first place. One sentence, one second could really change everything.
"You know so much already, what's left to be answered?"
Eloise drew breath before answering, "There's an alliance consists of scientists which specifically dedicated to do a research on you, Taehyung. In the future, some people are studying you; studying about immortality."
After finding out that he was a study subject in the future wasn't too pleasing in his ears. Especially knowing that Eloise was one of those people, he felt like something had been broken as the words spilled.
Was everything fake after all? Was I only a mere study for her?
He didn't say anything in return, allowing Eloise to proceed with more explanations that he would rather not hear.
"Yes, we scientists do know a tad bit of your backgrounds, but if you would, please explain a bit about how did you first gain your immortality," she said in monotone, face remained stoic as usual as she prepared a notepad and a pen on her hands.
Seeing how casually she talked made him hurt inwardly. But Taehyung wasn't the type to show emotions either, the situation right now was a good example on why he shouldn't be so attached to something or something.
Be so attached...
"This might sound stupid, but well, some years back then, which by the way, about thousand years ago, I was cursed by a witch because I stole food from her house and that's basically how I ended up being in this state. My story seems like that one of a fairytale, but I am the fairytale. The tales that are relayed from mouth to mouth, generations to generations," Taehyung answered honestly. He wasn't sure why he did so, he just had the urge to blurt everything. And he felt slightly relieved.
Eloise took a note about everything Taehyung had told her. "If you don't mind, could you please elaborate more about your past lives."
To say that he felt uncomfortable wasn't a lie, but not that he's feeling extremely disturbed either. And so, he told her, about his past lives and how he met Jimin. He explained that Jimin was the reincarnation of his past friends. Along that topic, he also mentioned about Jimin's past lives; Kim Namjoon, Kim Seokjin, Min Yoongi, Jung Hoseok, and in this current passage of time, he's a Park Jimin.
"That's quite complicated, If I must be honest," Eloise commented.
"Indeed," Taehyung bobbed his head. He, himself was aware that his life was very complicated.
But wait—
"Eloise..." a realization struck his head like a lightning, the thoughts had sent shivers down his spine. "Why are people studying me in the future? Am I not there anymore? That's impossible. I am immortal. But it's not possible for me to exist in two timelines at the same time. That can't be happening."
"That's the thing, Tae," despite the tension building between them, she remained composed. "You are dead in the future. You don't exist anymore in our time. Kim Taehyung, the immortal human, is a history in the future."
