Friday

Goodbye was a word Kai had never said to his mom, probably because if he did, she would smack him.

Willow hated goodbyes; she had always believed that goodbye meant: I don't know if I'll see you again and so, she never said them which meant that Kai couldn't say them either.

So, on Friday morning when Kai heard the sound of his mom's car starting up- which meant that she was leaving- instead of throwing off his covers and racing downstairs to wish her off, he stayed in his bed and let her drive away.

"Aren't you going to say goodbye?" Peter mumbled sleepily against his chest.

"No," Kai mumbled before pulling his boyfriend closer towards him and letting himself fall back asleep.

—————

It was around 1 pm before the two of them finally decided to get out of bed or more accurately before Kai decided to get out of bed. Peter was still curled up beneath Kai's blue comforter, happily sleeping away the day.

Kai didn't blame him, considering what had happened yesterday when he had told Peter the message that Colin had so kindly asked Kai to deliver.

Yesterday was probably the worst that he had seen Peter, and it was all Colin's fault.

Kai had a few mental breakdowns of his own, you couldn't have them when you took both biology and physics, but he had never experienced what Peter had had. If he had to describe it, he would say that it was like a mental breakdown and a panic attack smashed together and then multiplied by all the horrible things trapped in Pandora's box.

It was because of this that he left Peter to sleep in his bed while he went downstairs to make both of them breakfast despite the fact that he couldn't cook for shit.

But you didn't have to be a genius to make scrambled eggs, right?

Kai grumbled quietly to himself as he descended the stairs of his house. He was already thinking of all the ways he could stuff up making scrambled eggs and bacon as he opened up his fridge and looked inside.

He almost cried in relief when he saw the contents of the fridge. Inside were multiple dishes of food, all prepared that very morning by his wonderful mother. Kai's chest swelled with love as he thought about how early his mother must've gotten up in order to prepare all the food sitting in the fridge.

Willow might be tough on him sometimes, but at heart, she was a caring mother and Kai appreciated it.

By the time Kai had taken out all the food containers and opened them up, Peter was making his way down the stairs.

"Morning," Peter greeted before sitting down on one of the red stools by the kitchen counter.

"More like afternoon," Kai corrected him as he pulled out two plates from one of the drawers as well as a couple of spoons so that they could dish their food up.

"You're joking," Peter asked, but one quick look at the clock told him that Kai was right. "No wonder why I'm so hungry."

Kai laughed. "Then I guess you won't mind if I load a shit-ton of food onto your late."

"Have I ever told you how much I love you?" Peter smiled as Kai dishes up their food and popped it into the microwave.

"You only love me because I give you food and hugs," Kai teased.

"Don't forget about your rock hard abs," Peter quipped causing Kai to roll his eyes and then the food was ready, and for awhile the two of them were silent as they ate.

Of course, that didn't last long. Peter broke the silence by teasing Kai about his shirt, which in turn led to Kai sticking his tongue out at Peter. By the time they had finished their meal, the two boys had moved on from playful banter and were instead recalling each other's childhoods which resulted in the both of them doubled over in laughter.

"You were such a dumb child," Peter wheezed as Kai finished telling him about the time he tried to eat a worm.

"At least I didn't dislocate my draw by seeing how many apples I could fit in my mouth," Kai shot back while wiping a tear from his eye.

"The worst part is that it happened three times," Peter chucked.

"Gosh and Willow thinkS that I'm bad."

Kai shook his head before gathering their plates and dumping them in the sink.

"So, what's on for today?" Peter asked as he watched Kai wash their dirty dishes.

"Well for one I was thinking that you should take a shower because you smell."

Peter gasped dramatically.

"How dare you?" Peter said in mock shock. "You should be honoured-"

However, before he could finish, Kai was reaching across the table and pulling him into a kiss.

"How about you pack away the containers while I go upstairs and run you a bath?" Kai whispered against Peter's lips.

Peter, whose cheeks were stained in a dark blush, nodded dumbly.

That was all Kai needed. He adorned a smirk and then preceded to go to the bathroom, leaving a very flustered Peter in the kitchen.

"You should become a masseuse," Peter mumbled in content as he sank deeper into the warm water of the bath.

"You think?" Kai asked as he ran his slender, soapy fingers through Peter's conditioned hair.

Peter couldn't help but moan at the feeling. He didn't think that he ever been so relaxed on his life as he had now.

"Have I told you how much I love you?" Peter unconsciously leaned into Kai's hand, which pushed the other's fingers deeper into his scalp. He sighed contentedly.

"That's the second time today," Kai remarked.

"Well I do," Peter stated matter of factly, "I love you, Kai, and I appreciate everything that you've done for me."

Peter then took the hand that wasn't massaging his scalp and pressed it to his lips.

"Liz is coming tomorrow," Kai said. "We're all going to the movies together."

"That's good. It feels forever since we've spent some quality time with her," Peter hummed. He still held Kai's hand; it was clasped tightly between his own.

The image reminded Kai of a child clutching its teddy bear.

"My dad hasn't come yet," Peter murmured, disturbing the sweet silence that had settled over them.

"That's good."

"Do you think he will?" Peter tilted his head up until he was looking into Kai's forest green eyes.

"You're safe here, Pete. Don't worry about it," Kai reassured him. "Today was a good day and tomorrow will be a good day and so, will Sunday."

"Yeah," Peter mumbled as he closed his eyes and let himself drown in the pleasure of Kai's fingers running through his hair. "I trust you."
