Galactic spark

Wes's pov
Working with NASA is an exciting experience.

Once passed all the hard work, that is.

I've been working with NASA for 3 years and been on this space station, in orbit for 4 months.

It's great but I feel like something is missing but I'm not sure what.

I float over to my partner, Joven to check with mission control about the research.

They said they their sending someone up to help us.

I was confused.

I thought we had this under control?

Who are they sending?

After maybe 7 hours, I see a NASA rocket heading towards us.

Me and Joven head to the airlock shaft to let them in.

Joven opens the shaft and we're met with a short, Asian woman with brown eyes and long, purple hair, in a ponytail.

She's also wearing the same blue NASA jumpsuits that Joven and I are wearing.

I'm not gonna lie, she's beautiful.

She looks at us with a smile.
"Hey, you must be Wes and Joven" She greets as we shake hands.
"Yeah. Welcome Miss...?" I trail off.
"No Miss please. Call me Mari" She replies.

I nod.
"Ok then, Mari. Shall we?" I ask, gesturing to the hallway that leads to the main room.

She nods and we go to the main room.

An hour later, I was sitting in the main room, alone and checking the outside cameras.

I was so concentrated that I didn't know anyone came into the room until someone sat next to me.
"Hey" I heard a feminine voice greet.

I jump in my seat and turn to my left to see Mari.
"Oh. Hey. Need anything?" I ask her, awkwardly.
"No. Just checking on things here" She tells me.
"Well, so far, nothing new. No rocks around, everything's intact and no aliens" I inform her, joking at the last part.

Mari nods and looks at the screen.
"What made you wanna work for NASA?" She suddenly asks.
"Uh. I've always been interested in space" I reply, looking at the screen.
"Me too. I was always called a nerd because of it but, never stopped me" She replies.
"I don't think you're a nerd. Just a girl who's not afraid to share her interests" I tell her, sincerely.

She looks at me, kinda surprised.
"Really?" She asks, quietly.
"Yeah. You were called a nerd but it didn't stop you. Look where you are now" I say, smiling.

She looks up at the ceiling window at the starry, wonder of space.

She looks back at me with a smile.
"Thanks Wes. Space is incredible" She says and kisses my cheek then leaves.

I smile even wider as I feel... I can't describe it but.

Some kind of.....spark.
