On a sunny day, in Los Angeles, many people were going about their business.
But at a hospital, in the maternity ward, a 16 year old, Asian girl with long, black hair and brown eyes was giving birth.
Her name is Mari Takahashi, she's a senior high school student, close to graduating if not for her situation.
At the beginning of the year, she met a new student, named Wes Johnson.
She became friends with him and developed a crush on him.
She told him that she liked him and they became a couple.
They slept together a few times, causing Mari to get pregnant.
She was devastated when she found out and kept it secret from everyone.
She hid it for 2 months until she started showing and finally confessed to Wes.
He was mad at her for keeping it from him and didn't talk to her for over a week but then faced her again and stepped up.
They talked about what to do with the baby and agreed to give it up for adoption.
They found a nice couple, who were trying for kids but hadn't been successful, and got to know them and agreed to allow them to adopt their baby.
Now, Mari's in the delivery room with Wes and the couple who's adopting the baby.
Mari and Wes didn't want to know the baby's gender but begged the couple to give the baby the names they chose.
Ella for a girl.
Jason for a boy.
The couple agreed.
Mari pushed with all her might as she squeezed Wes's hand.
She finally relaxed as the baby's cries filled the room.
The doctors and nurses cleaned the baby, weighed it and took it away.
"There's your new baby" Mari pants, exhausted.
"Thank you so much for this gift. We will care for it. And give it the love it needs" The woman thanks and leaves with her husband.
About a week after the birth, Mari and Wes broke up and went to separate colleges.
15 years later, Mari got a job at Smosh games, not knowing that one of her coworkers is roommates with Wes.
Joven went home to see Wes there, watching a movie.
"Hey Wes" Joven greets, closing the door.
"Hey man, how was today?" Wes asks, not taking his eyes off the TV.
"We've got a new coworker. You coming to work tomorrow?" Joven asks.
"Yeah. I need to get some editing done. New coworker?" Wes replies, still looking at the TV.
"Yeah. Her name's Mari" Joven informs him, walking to the kitchen.
That made Wes freeze as his heart drops.
He slowly gets up walks over to the kitchen, standing in the doorway as Joven makes some coffee.
"Mari?" Wes questions him.
"Yeah. Mari Takahashi" Joven confirms.
Wes felt the world spin and walks over his room for a long lie down.
The next morning, Wes was still in bed and there was banging on his door.
"Wes! Get up! We're gonna be late!" Joven yells, still banging on the door.
Wes groans and gets up.
He doesn't feel like getting dressed so he walks out in his pyjamas.
"Then let's go" Wes groans to Joven.
"You're not getting dressed?" Joven asks, confused.
