And we're back to rarely talking,
and not because we're broken,
it's just because we don't know
what has gone so elusively unspoken.
Perhaps fixing this was for guilt,
to make up for what went wrong
because there was no other way
to halt the haunting song.
The lyrics played in our minds,
they plagued both of our hearts
you had to see if we had a chance,
and I had to hear why you tore me apart.
And it did help, for a while,
I was consoled and you were fine,
But now we're silent once again,
we're not broken but you aren't mine.
