"Aw c'mon Hunk there isn't anything to be worried about."

It was the day before highschool for Lance McClain and Hunk Garret. As usual Lance was calm and relaxed while on the other hand Hunk was freaking out.

"Nothing to be worried about?" Hunk replied, "these next four years will decide our future! It's life or death out there lance!"

"Don't worry so much it's just highschool."

"I like how you say 'just highschool' like it's no big deal."

"Aint no thing but a chicken wing."

"You're impossible. Okay I gotta go to sleep, talk to you tomorrow."

Lance had a confused look on his face while on the phone with his best friend in the whole universe. "Bed? Right now? Dude it's like 8:30. I haven't even eaten DINNER yet"

Hunk laughed a little bit to himself. "Yeah my mom wants me to get in bed early tonight so I can wake up refreshed and not oversleep, especially not on the first day of school."

"Well no arguing with your mom, goodnight Hunk!"

"Goodnight Lance."

Lance hung up the phone and plopped down on his bed. He looked at the ceiling and started to think about what the beginning of his highschool career was gonna be like. He was excited but at the same time a little bummed out. At school he could meet a whole bunch of new people and make relationships he had would never have thought of.

But...

There always was a but.

He had to do school work which wasn't really his strong suit. Dealing with the stress homework, grades, and extracurricular activities sounds like a lot of hassle.

He did just get off the phone with Hunk telling him not to worry but yet he worried himself.

9th grade, a whole new chapter in the young boy's life. It's Most likely gonna hit him like a mactruck.

And the girls. Lance had always been the most attractive boy in school. And lots of attractive girls were into him as well. But he didn't seem to care for any of those girls. He wanted a girl that wasn't just cute but special in her own way.

All the girls in middle school seemed to just only have the hots for him because of his looks. They never really got to know him and he never got to know them. They were all just there. He felt nothing towards them.

"Maybe..." He thought, "I just might find the one I'm loo-"

"Lance come down for dinner!"

His thoughts were interrupted by his mother calling him for dinner. It was taco Tuesday.

"Coming mama!" Said Lance as he called down to his mother. He ran down the stairs impatient for his mother's secret recipe.

"I already told you I don't wanna go to actual school."

Katie sunk into her chair knowing that tomorrow she would have to start actual high school with actual people with real life actual classes. She usually did an online school program because at an early age she usually didn't get along with the other kids.

"Solitary and no distractions made me smart as I am today."

"Not necessarily," her father rebutled "being all by yourself in your room doing lessons isn't healthy. You need to build social skills. What if you try to get a job and have to go to an interview?"

Katie looked at her mashed potatoes, peas, and steak with defeated face. "Well when you put it like that..." her voice trailed off.

"This will also be a great time for you to make friends outside of the family. Being alone can be alright sometimes but all the time just isn't the best thing, dear." Said her mother.

If her brother were here, he'd have her back. Matt Holt went missing after going into war. But deep down Katie Holt knew her mother was right but she decided to be stubborn and still fight back.

"Please mom and dad, I'm begging you I don't wanna do this. I'm not gonna fit in, I'm not cut-out to interact with people. I've been homeschooled all my life why can't I continue?" She pleaded like her life depended on it. Her father, however, was ready for an answer like that.

"If you go I'll double your allowance."

Katie decided to jump on this bribewagon to get herself a good deal.

"Triple it and I'll go to all the social events that they have."

"Deal."

Katie was able to turn, what in her eyes, a bad situation into a good opportunity to make extra cash. How bad could public school actually be?

How bad could it really be?
