Revisiting The Past

It's the third morning back at Hogwarts, at 6:00 no one is up. In the Weasley room, Ron lies spaced out across the bed whilst, unknowingly, Lavender cuddles up next to him, his big arm cushioned under her neck, providing a sense of safety and comfort. The blonde hairs on her head entwined with the red on his own. They have a past, they were a couple, but it didn't work out. Can they get through this time?
At 8:00, Lavender rolls over to the edge of the king size, just escaping his clutches. Her eyes pry open at a of a ray of sunlight beaming through the curtained window. She sits up and turns to face the ginger boy laying next to her. I can't believe, out of all people in the wizarding community, we were deemed perfect for each other. I thought, for certain, he would do everything he could to match with Hermione's answers. I mean, they did share that moment in the great battle. That moment they didn't know I witnessed. But, then again they had to get back to fighting, immediately afterwards. If they didn't go back to fighting... Ron wouldn't have saved me from that wolf! As she continues to fantasise about what might have been, her mind drifts to the future, her future, with the boy she's liked since joining Dumbledore's Army in her fifth year.
"You okay, Lav?" Ron yawns. She loved it when he called her that,
"Yeah, just thinking about the new law..." and how I'm actually happy it came along ,but she would never admit the last part, not yet anyways.
"Yeah, I'm not too thrilled about it either," her face dropped, was he not happy? Did he want someone else? Hermione? Her thoughts were cut off, "at least I have you though, some people really pulled the short straw." He mumbles, before groggily treading to the bathroom to dress for the day.
Lavender sits in shock until he returns. Her thoughts racing around her brain. Once he left the bathroom she dashed into it and begun getting ready for the day. He likes me. He's happy about our pairing. After that exciting news, nothing could ruin her day. Nothing.
Later on, in the great hall, Ron and Lavender sat opposite each other, occasionally sharing glances when Ron looked up from his huge plate of food to chime in to whatever conversation was around.
"Stop talking with your mouth full, Ron!" Hermione wines, "your getting food all over the table for Merlin's sake." He looks up from his plate with food still in his mouth,
"Sorry." He sprayed. Lavender giggles, he is cute,
"What do you all have first lesson?" Lavender chimes in as the conversations die down to an awkward silence.
"Potions," Hermione says, her eyes glued to a book on Hogwarts history.
"Muggle studies," Ron adds- with food in his mouth.
"Potions," Harry speaks, his fingers twirling Ginny's long, red hair.
"Defence against the dark arts," Blaise and Malfoy declare, "not like any of us need it after last year," Draco mumbles, Blaise let's out a chuckle and, to Malfoy's surprise, so does Hermione.
"Ginny and I are going to care of magical creatures," Luna states dreamily, "I hope we are studying clabberts." Everyone is shocked to find they actually have heard of the creature Luna is discussing.
The bell chimes and everyone disperses to their class rooms. Ron and Lavender sharing first and last period, bearing in mind they only have two classes today because Dumbledore requested they could all head back to their common rooms after lunch so they could get to know their other half's.
The two lessons passed quickly, Lavender and Ron stayed close throughout them both. Ron occasionally added his opinion on whatever it was they were learning. Most of what he had to say made lavender chuckle at the ignorant input.
They both walked to the common room together and sat on a double sofa. Ron lay across it with his legs over Lavender's lap. She was happy, really happy, they sat all day talking and laughing. Not paying any attention to the other six people in the room for very long, everyone would break away from the group discussion and talk amongst themselves.
9:00 comes quickly and-unsurprisingly- Ron is hungry. As Weasley and Brown head to their joint dorm room Ron begins to whine,
"All I'm saying is it wouldn't be hard to pay the house elves a bit more and have a big supper in the great hall. Even if it's just cereal or whatever Hermione calls boxed flakes." Ron flops onto the bed.
"If it will stop your complaining I can conjure some foood, I may not be Draco or Hermione but I know how to do spells." Ron's eyes light up, causing Lavender to let out a sigh of happiness. She conjures a small supper of bacon, eggs, beans and toast. The two sit on a table she also whipped up, and talk until the clock chimes ten. She makes the food remains- what little their was thanks to Ron- disappear and they climb into their joint double bed. One at one end, one on the other. Only to meet in the middle once they are both asleep.
