It's the end of the first week back at Hogwarts, not much has changed.
Hermione and Draco are somewhat civil, arguing every now and then- by argue we mean a magic battle- but they always make up in the end, becoming friends of some sort. They still do not know if they will be happily wed, but the future has not arrived yet, so they are yet to know the truth.
Blaise and Luna are okay when alone, but Blaise always seems to put up his wall when others are around, causing Luna to be confused, at what creatures could be causing this... Wrackspurts? When they are alone however they would talk and laugh, and Blaise has actually started to see Luna as a friend. Not any more than friends , as of yet, but there is still time to come.
Ron and Lavender are actually dating, they decided since the wedding was ultimately going to happen before the end of the year, whether it was what they wanted or not, they wanted to be a couple beforehand, to strengthen their bond. They are- as of the moment- loved up, but will it last?
Harry and Ginny are the best they've ever been, spending all their free time together, whether it be one on one or with a group, they do not care. They really are soulmates...
In the great hall, at breakfast, the group eat, having small conversation, avoiding awkward topics between those, not yet, allied.
"Ahem!" Dumbledore grabs everyone's attention, "may all sixth and seventh year students stay behind once first bell chimes. We have a special surprise for you brave students for completing your first week of this dreaded school term." As he walks away from the pedestal conversations arise again.
"What do you think the surprise is?" Hermione asks the group,
"Do you think he got the law removed?" Draco wondered out loud, hopefully.
"No, he would've just told us if it was that important," Harry added, not that it mattered to him, he was happy to marry the woman he was betrothed to. Even if it was earlier than anticipated. Shortly after the announcement, the bell chimes, alarming students below sixth year that they must head to first lesson. Dumbledore stands at the front of the hall and ready to make his announcement,"Now children, I am sure you are still settling into the idea that you are soon to be part of families. Your own little families. It is not something any of us envisioned but it does not do well to dwell in dreams of the past and forget to live in our present, we must do with the fates we have been dealt and form them into our own destiny." He pauses, his attention on seems to be every single one of the students in this hall, they are his priority, he must help them however he can, even if it is something small he must do to uphold their spirits, "in attempt to keep you all as happy as can be, we have arranged that every weekend, there will be a small event held to congratulate you all on making it this far, and overcoming the tragic events of the previous, and even present, years. You have all overcome so much. And since the ministry do not see it as fitting to celebrate your achievements, we will. We will celebrate each and everyone of you. And with it, your fallen brethren. We must keep their memory alive, otherwise all of this was for naught. The event, this week, will be held tonight. Here, in the great hall, we suggest you each dress formally as we will be having a feast in memory and then dancing will be an available activity until midnight where we will begin to usher you to your shared rooms. As well as this, from now on sixth and seventh years will have the weekends off for studying, and bonding, as some of you need all the help you can get. Now go and ready yourselves for this evening." Amongst the arising chatter of the announcement, Dumbledore exits the stage and student rush out the door in order to find a last minute outfit of some sort.
Ginny, Hermione, Luna and Lavender head to the common room, they are going to apparate to Hogsmeade and go formal dress shopping for tonight.
"Granger!" Malfoy shouts down the corridor, she turns and only just catches a small silver card he has thrown in her direction, "get whatever you want, but make sure it's not sh*t." She looks at him confused,
"Thanks?" He nods, as if in approval of the uncertainty he has caused, and turns. Blaise also gives Luna a card to buy whatever outfit she wants, also pleading with Ginny to help her pick something decent and not decorative, promising in return to buy her outfit- not that she needs it with the fiancé she has. He knew it was a long shot.
When the girls arrive at the shop, dressed in their comfiest muggle clothing, they find no outfits to their liking, decidedly, they choose to travel to diagonal alley, in hope of finding a better range of choices. Eventually arriving in a middle class dress shop filled with floating dresses- as well as those hung on racks- the girls are satisfied with the choices and look around. There are long and short dresses all with different styles and colours. Some with diamonds, some with pearls, some with lace and some more bare and modest.
Ginny takes a red, column dress down, with darker red gems coating the top area of the dress. It has a high neck and a cut out neck, exposing a small glimpse of cleavage. She looked good.
"You look hot, Gin!" Hermione exclaims, the other girls nodding in agreement.
"It's a good job Harry gave me a big budget, look at the price of this thing," she sighs in relief, it's not even half of the money Harry gave her to spend, but she still feels guilty.
"You can always bring it back after, we can fix the condition of it tomorrow morning." Hermione explains, hoping to give her friend piece of mind. Yeah, Harry will love the dress and if it is too much we can always return it... she thinks to herself, knowing that Harry will not let her return it because he loves her and he doesn't care about material things. Only adding to her guilt.
Luna is the next to try on a dress. It's a mini, a-line dress with a fitted waist and v-neck straps. The dress is a beautiful baby blue, which brings out her blonde hair and sparkling eyes. A slightly darker blue ribbon tied around the waist and under the skirt shared this colour, allowing an appearance of layers.
The dress Lavender picks out is a pale pink, a-line dress that just reaches her ankles, white lace covers the entirety of the skirt of the dress in a small and intricate floral pattern. The off the shoulder neckline is somewhat puffy and hugs her arms perfectly, she does look gorgeous.
Hermione is the last to pick a dress, her mind wanders back to the previous week, her and Draco were talking about colours for some reason, she remembered him mention his affection for the colour green, sacramento green to be precise, it was one of his favourites. As if fate had bestowed it upon her, she spotted a long, green dress- the perfect shade, Draco's shade. It had a trumpet shape and a fitted bodice. The dress would be floor length on her and had a halter neck. She decided to try it on. It fits her perfectly, she could imagine herself with her hair straightened and her favourite necklace on. She looked beautiful, and she knew it. She walked out of the changing rooms and let out a laugh as her friends jaws dropped.
"Put your tongue back in your mouth, Gin" she teases. "Your marrying Harry remember?" Ginny laughs in response.
"I know, but if you wear this dress tonight I might just have to switch places with Draco!" She adds, before laughing at her own joke,
"That might work, Draco and Harry are actually getting on since the war." The girls laugh and pay for their dresses, they head back to Hogwarts and begin to get ready, the feast is only in two hours, thank Merlin for magic.
Luna skips into her room with her dress floating behind her and places it on the bed. Blaise walks in after her and stands in the door frame,
"Can I see the dress?" He asks in his deep voice, the blonde turns on her heel and responds in her soft tone,
"Sure, let me put it on first," she enters the bathroom with a skip and levitates the dress towards her. In minutes she returns to the bedroom with the dress on. Blaise is looking at his book when she sings his name,
"Blaise, I'm readyyy!" He turns his head towards her and stops as his gaze reaches her pale face, her blonde curls falling in her eyes, she tucks a strand behind her ear, "What do you think?" She asks innocently. He slowly looks her up and down. She looks really... pretty. He did not just call a girl 'pretty'. He's called lots of girls 'hot' before, but never 'pretty'. What in Merlin's name was going on with him, Nargles?.
"Blaise?" She says, confused as to why she hadn't yet got an answer, "is it not good enough?" He snaps out of his daydreaming.
"No! I mean yes, you look amazing!" He stammers, no girl had ever made him lose his cool. Sh*t, the looney is rubbing off on me. Luna smiled, calming his rambling.
"Thank you, now I'm going to put on my makeup and accessories, I'll be out in just a bit." Without another word she gracefully danced into the bathroom. Blaise shook is head and began to dress himself.
In the 'Potter's' dorm, Harry was sat on the bed looking at the bathroom door, waiting for Ginny, he was already sat in his dress robes, his dark hair still in the same mess it always was, he looked good that way. Ginny definitely thought so.
"You nearly ready, Gin?" He asked in a bored tone, he'd been sat like that for a while now.
"Yes," she replied hurriedly, "I'm just putting my heels on now!" Harry rolled his eyes, she probably didn't even have the dress on yet. He was wrong, in less than a minute the door began to open, Ginny stepped out with her long, red hair curled, falling on to her shoulders. The dress hugged her womanly figure perfectly, falling on her chest was a necklace Harry had given her near the end of the previous week, it was his mother's. He had found it in Godricks hollow over the summer when he went to get the house fixed up. It was a beautiful rose gold rope-like chain with a small red gem hanging on the middle, she had cried when he gave her it. She had black strappy heels on that were hidden by the length of the dress. Harry looked her up and down in awe, Ginny began to blush.
"Stop staring!" she looked at the floor, trying to hide her words.
"Never," Harry replied in attempt to tease her, he put a hand on her waist and she stepped towards him. He leant forward and whispered in her ear, "close your eyes for a minute, Gin." She looked at him puzzled, before caving in and closing her eyes, as requested.
Harry reached over to the bed and picked up a small, black box. Kneeling down on one knee, he told her, "open your eyes," she looked down, at the love of her life, and covered her mouth. Was he... proposing?! "Ginevra Molly Weasley, you are my world, my life, will you marry me?" Ginny falls down to her knees and nods, cupping Harry's face in her hands, an enormous smile plastered on her face- contrasting with the tears welling in her eyes. She puts out her hand and Harry takes it. He placed a stunning, rose gold ring on her delicate finger, the scarlet red diamond was huge and had a few smaller gems surrounding it, the ring was gorgeous. What she didn't realise was the engraving on the inside. "Gin, you are my always".
Ron and lavender sat in the Common room, all dressed up, Ron keeps complimenting her, thinking she is one of the, if not the, most beautiful girl he has ever met. He might even love her, they sit with his arm around her. Draco sat on an armchair opposite, wearing a black suit underneath a long black robe. A green tie hanging from his neck. His platinum, blonde bangs hang in his face. Then, the tapping of heels on stairs graces his ears, he turns his attention to the stair entrance with "The Malfoy's" engraved above, Hermione glides through the entrance with grace. His eyes scan her from top to bottom. Her hair straight, some falling in front of her shoulders, allowing her to tuck a strand behind her ear, an enchanting action- grabbing Draco's undivided attention. Lip gloss on, makes her mouth glisten. From her ears hang shiny, diamond earrings her mother had passed onto her, before her memory was erased. Around her neck, a silver necklace with a diamond hanging from the middle, falling onto her chest, landing on the forest-green dress. The halter neck showing off her shoulders, the fitted bodice enhancing her curves and the trumpet shape of the skirt giving her a more formal appearance. Hidden behind the floor length dress were a pair of silver peep toe, platform heels. Malfoy started in awe, she looked good. He wouldn't admit it, not even to himself. But she did. Even Ron thought so- not in comparison to his Lav- unnoticeable to his future fiancé , thankfully.Soon everyone was gathered in the common room, ready to head down to the great hall for the party. What could the night have in store?
