Her brown eyes meets my green one and we both shout "WHAT?!!!".
"Its true we honestly didn't knew about it up until few days ago. Jenks called to tell us about this deal."Carlisle says in a sympathetic tone.I burst out laughing,"Nice one father.But enough joking around lets just start with the contract." Both Carlisle and Charlie makes a face and denies that they are joking. " This can't be true i don't want to be stuck with this asshole for the rest of my life.I'll kill him the first night. You can break that clause in the contract" Bella tells them vehemently. I ask her who the hell she is calling an asshole and her only reply is to look at me with a smug grin.
" Even i don't want to spend my life with the queen of the shrews.I'd rather kill myself than be stuck with her.You both have the power to destroy that part of agreement.Please for our sanity destroy it."Carlisle only reply is a firm shake of head."Its not in our hands. Both of your grandparents had made the deal and also one of the requirement for your coronation.Please at least listen to us."Bella head whips around so fast that i almost have a whiplash. The look in her eyes is unreadable but after a minute or two we both calm down enough to listen.
Carlisle tells us that Anthony Cullen and Charles Swan had made the deal after our birth and also made it as one of the condition for us to be married to each other or else we won't be getting the empire.So basically in order to become the leader Bella and i have to be married.Bella and mine face are identical throughout their speech.Both of our eyes holds the same question,anger and resentment.Jasper and Emmett are having the time of their life while we discuss the contract.Time to time i find them laughing at us but a look from Bella and me silences them.After what seems like hours when in reality is just some minutes all of them leave us in the room to discuss our future.It is weird thinking my future as "ours" but it is an undeniable fact that somehow both of ours separate future have to become one.
After a minute or two when i couldn't take the silence she starts "Listen asshole back out from the deal. I can't break my Grandpa word but you can " I am taken aback by her words.In our world a deal is a deal and words are like the voice of the oracle itself.Once written cannot be changed.She is looking out of the window towards the garden where our families are preparing to dine.
"Why don't you break your grandpa's word"Her only reply is a soft whisper of i can't."Then we have to make a compromise,a deal or whatever you want to call it."I look at her shocked.Was this girl bi-polar or something and i curse the old man internally for landing me into this mess.
It is without a shadow of doubt that she could be the ideal wife , i mean she is beautiful,smart,independent,hot and sexy.I still didn't know how her fighting skills were but even with all of these qualities i couldn't marry her for the simple reason that i don't want to settle down this early without love.I am a playboy and want to keep it that way for a long time until i find love. When i tell her the problem she comes up with a solution and from then on we start discussing what we want and what we don't. Of course we argue a lot but at the end we both are somewhat satisfied with the deal.Now we only have to make our fathers agree to it.She is a great negotiator and didn't back down from her beliefs and did i mention that she is stubborn as hell. I mean even i am stubborn but she gives that word a whole new meaning.
After an hour we both invite our fathers back in the study and we both agree that Jasper and Emmett were having a little bit too much fun to be serious so they would be kept out of the study."We have conditions before we agree to the agreement " Bella starts after they both have settled down on the sofa.They give us a nod and i take that as my cue to speak" First of all it will be a small secret marriage." Carlisle opens his mouth to argue but i stop him " Please,listen first.After our coronation ceremony gets over we'll sign the papers but only our family would know about this marriage.It will be legal in every sense and would also keep the condition."
"Secondly i want Cullen to move in my apartment 'cause i refuse to stay here.I have a top of the range apartment and its safer too as nobody knows about it.Of course you guys are allowed to visit and rest assure he would be well looked after."On hearing her condition two heads turns towards me. It was a bit of a shock to me too but after hearing Bella's side of the argument and her points i decided it would be the best solution. They both mask their shocked faces and wave their hands for us to continue.We had decided that we'll both take turn putting up our condition.
"Thirdly, we both are allowed to date whomever we want.We'll be living in the same apartment as room mates but nothing else.That means separate rooms. At any point of time we believe we have found our The One we'll divorce immediately." To say our fathers are shocked would be an understatement.Even i was but Bella was the one to put up this condition .
"Last of all i neither want his money nor any heirloom from the Cullen family.I have enough money and do not wish to acquire more.So you guys can rest assure that i am not a gold digging slut." They both just nods and after making sure that we have no more conditions promises to draw up the contract immediately.
"Are you guys sure about this ?"Charlie asks mostly looking at Bella.But her back is turned towards us and her only reply is a nod and i reply on both of our behalf,"You guys have not left us with any other choice."
Carlisle contacts Jenks,who is our advocate,to draw up the contract. And after this we start our discussion on the important points like partnership. We all look up from the table as Renee and Esme enters the study to call us down for lunch.Carlisle informs them that we'll be down in some minute.
"Now that everything is in order we ought to tell everyone about this deal.The sooner the better so we can all get started on the preparations.The coronation will be held on 13th April,1 month from now." Charlie says while we pack up the papers. " Edward you will tell your mother about the moving out decision of yours."Carlisle orders me with a smirk on his face.No doubt imagining her reaction.To tell the truth i am scared about her reaction too.
"Now lets proceed to the dinner cause i am famished." Charlie says as he and Carlisle walks out of the room.
"You ready to be dissected,Bella?." she laughs out at my threat and skips out after them.
Her laugh is probably the sweetest sound i have ever heard after her voice,i am taken aback by my thoughts and follow her downstairs to what is no doubt going to be the most entertaining dinner ever.
