Surah Al-Kahf, Verse 14:
And We strengthened their hearts with patience, when they stood up and said: Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth; we will by no means call upon any god besides Him, for then indeed we should have said an extravagant thing.
Navid
Exiting professor Jack's office after handing over a project he assigned to me I slide into my car and zoomed off for my apartment not bothering to wait up for Chris and Farhan, the new friends I made here who still have a lecture to wrap up for the day.
Typing In the password to my flat I trudged in and fell on the couch in the sitting room with my shoes on too lazy and tired to pull them off because the scorching sun in the city was no ordinary one today ---as though it was competing for dominance making me run to the comfort of my condo.
Finally mustering the courage to stand up after flipping aimlessly through channels, I picked up my clothing off the floor to keep the place in check and head for my room when the door's security buzzed notifying the presence of someone.
Peeking through the entrance camera as usual before unlocking the door I was left laughing alone like a loon watching the bicker of the two guys outside which was nothing new behaving as though they were teenage couple-----could vividly recall that was the same act they were upon when I stumbled upon them at a marketing class as they were also enrolled in the business program as me----they are family friends and instantly we clicked.
"Will you stop saying......
"Hey guys" I said grinning evilly interrupting their banter and the fiery look they were both giving me meant trouble.
"Guy what in the name was that, you left us back and drove home and still have the guts to pull that face on us"
"Yeah absolutely" Chris seconded with his thick accent
"Woah!! hold your horses dudes couldn't wait any second in that atmosphere following today's weather---a guy gotta protect his looks you know"
"Ohhh I see and that was why you left us to look like fried potatoes jumping from one bus to another" Farhan barked
"Bus? Why? I asked bewildered
"Dude I think this guy's going down with amnesia, how many times do I tell you my car is in the garage for repair and Chris's was seized by his mum"Farhan finished looking at me as if I've grown extra heads.
"Ooops, I just might have forgotten BTW the aim was achieved so why the long faces" I said to irk them
"Someone should please shut this guy before I vent my anger on him"
"Can we please go in now" Chris groaned
"Why not" I said grinning walking in with them.
These two are quite a nut case who can be annoying but the best you could ever wish for.
"Oh lord I'm so famished" whined Chris
"Same here" Farhan yawned sprawling on the couch.
"Anything edible" the glutton Farhan said walking to the fridge.
"Nothing that I could think of, going for shopping tomorrow, that project stuff got me hooked up-- cant wait to get done with all this in a month's time" I mumbled
"Oh please no need to rub it on our face, Chris I wonder why they signed us up for a year when we can actually run a 6month's like Navid" Farhan mumbled with annoyance.
"You never can tell of them" Chris said shrugging.
"I can't starve myself to death, I'm going home"Farhan huffed grabbing his blazers aiming for the door.
"I don't think that's a good idea not if you recall that your parent are sooo angry at you for ditching their beloved daughter in-law to be" Chris drawled stressing on each word.
"Almost forgot, I wonder why they won't let me be I don't like the girl and never will" Farhan complained trudging in.
"Sorry dude and welcome to the gang of getting hooked up with the daughters of some top tycoons for business expansion, always laughing evilly at me when I hide at your place from my parent for same reason right? Well now its your turn" Chris grinned enjoying the reaction on Farhan's face.
And that was how they kept on battering dwelling on that topic.
I wonder why some parent take pleasure in making decision and taking utmost control of their children's life, I think we also deserve the chance to make our own choices and choose who we think is compatible for us, thank you lord for my parent who are not inclined in that way or wait....oh please I need to stop this thought not good for the mind" I mumbled inwardly---- dragging my thought to Meera whom I haven't spoke to for the past five months I've being here trying to keep things halaal between us enquiring about them only through her brother through whom I send them monthly allowance never failing on that as well as when any need of theirs arises.
🎶hmm stupid in love oh, stupid in love, hmm let me tell you something
🎵Never, have I ever been a size ten in my whole life........ Rihanna's song stupid in love blared from the kitchen counter from my phone signalling I've got a call which I paid no heed to at the moment being so engrossed with my buddies playing x-box and eating the pizza we ordered."Guy please shut that phone up its distracting me here" Chris huffed
Hesitantly I walked to the counter and picked up the phone with the intent of switching it off as it was a new number on display but thought otherwise and I slided over the answer button clearly infuriated at whosoever is at the other end who has interrupted me from what I was doing.
Placing the phone nonchalantly on my ear I was met with a voice that made my whole body tremble and legs felt like jelly unable to sustain my frame making me grab unto the kitchen counter for support.
