Melanie pov
Something was up today. I could feel it.

At the end of the day I saw Rose draw Ryan away. Oh no. They knew. I looked at my siblings and nodded. I went over and dragged Jasper away. We went away.

I kept quiet before I spoke.
" You know." He flinched.
" Yeah. I do." I sighed.
" Come with me." Jasper took my hand without hesitation. I smiled and then sped away. I dropped the human power and went into the sunlight. Jasper looked shocked.
" Wow." I smiled and held my hand out. He came to me and put a hand on my cheek.
" You're beautiful." I laughed.
" I'm glad you think so."

We went away and I told him everything. We sat down on some rocks.
" How long have you been like this?"
" Since the civil war. I was turned by a man creating a army. I became his second and handled everything. I was born and raised in Texas. It's why I have my accent."
" Is that where those scars come from?" I smiled.
" Yeah. It is." He put a hand on my arm and traced one. I shivered.
" Why do I feel this way around you?" I smiled.
" Vampires have something called soul mates. You are mine."
" Does that mean I'll become like you?"
" Only if you want."
" You are an empath right?" I laughed.
" Yeah. Among other things. But yeah. I also copy other's gifts. And one of them is making my family and I more human."
" That's why you could eat."
" Yep." Jasper smiled then looked at me.
" Does someone have to be dying to become a vampire?"
" No. Carlisle only chooses those who don't have another choice. Ryan. Emma. Esme. And Bella didn't have another choice."
" So can the others do what you do?"
" No. Ryan can read minds which is rather annoying sometimes. Emma has psychokenisis. Alex can see into the future. Bella is a mental and physical shield. Carlisle has super self control and Esme has a lot of kindness."

We talked some more. We invited them over to our house that weekend. I was designated to pick them up.

That morning I got changed and got ready to go. Alex had gone out to get some flowers with Bella and the others were cooking.

When I pulled up to the house Alice came running out. She hugged me tightly.
" You look amazing." I chuckled.
" Thanks Alice." The others came out just then. Jasper smiled at me and I smiled back.

Once they were in I pulled out and sped off.
" Geez. Do all vampires like speed?" I smirked.
" I guess you could say that. We're all different though. Y'all would be surprised." Jasper was next to me in the passenger seat. I could feel the nervousness all around. I chuckled.
" If y'all could dial down the nervousness that would be great."
" How........" I laughed and answered Rose.
" Empath doll. I can feel your emotions. And right now y'all are given off enough nervousness to make me nauseated."
" We can't help it. We've never been in this situation before."
"Ya don't say." I said sarcastically. Jasper chuckled at my sarcasm.
" Geez. Southerner indeed." I glared.
" Do me a favor and don't test my temper. I may be in control right now but trust me when I say you don't want to see what my temper causes." I knew they were all confused. I ignored it and kept driving.

When we arrived in the house we got in quickly. I heard Italian music. I groaned.
" Of course." I walked at a human pace to where the others were.

Esme walked up.
"Welcome back you all. We're making Italiano for you all." I chuckled and went over. Ryan threw a piece of lettuce at me which I dodged. Emma was beyond tense and I knew why. I sent calming waves to her. She looked at me then sighed. Bella came in just then. She sped over to me.
" Geez Emma. Relax will you." I heard glass shattering and knew the bowl had been broken. I sighed. Again. Ryan spoke.
" Hey you two. Stop it." Bella spoke.
" Just ignore Emma. I do."
" Yeah. Let's just keep pretending this isn't dangerous for all of us."
" We would never tell. Anyone. Anything." Carlisle spoke.
"She knows that." Ryan spoke.
" Yeah well the problem is that two of you have gone public now. So......" He looked at me and Jasper. I tensed and stepped in front of Jasper protectively.
" Ryan." Esme said.
" No. They should know. The entire family will be implicated if this ends badly." I looked away.
" Badly as in......we would become the meal." We all laughed. Even Emma had a small smile. Just then Alex dropped in.
"Hi guys." He walked over.
" Oh. You all do smell good."
" Alex." I said in warning tone.
"Sorry. Sorry." I shook my head. Ryan was laughing hard. I glared at him for his amusement on the matter. Alex skipped over and spoke.
" Well. How about I take you all somewhere separate so they can finish the meal." I grabbed Alex just then.
" Not going to happen."
" What?" He asked innocently. Bella spoke.
" Alex. We know you. You have that look you have when you're hiding something." Alex fake gasped.
" I do not."
" Mhmm." Ryan and I said at the same time. Alex pretend to be hurt.
" Mel! You're my twin!! You're supposed to be on my side!!!"
" Not going to happen hun." Esme chuckled and then spoke.
" Melanie. Can you help me?" I nodded my head and helped her.

After the meal we all relaxed. We had fun and got to know each other. By the end of it Jasper and I had gotten even closer and were now dating.
