Stephanie's POV

I stopped near the lake and turned back into my human form. The beautiful moonlit sky seemed to taunt my depressing nature. I sighed and ran my hands through my hair. She really scared me. I sighed again and sat on the shoreline, looking into the dark water that reflected the moon. "Why are you punishing yourself?" My wolf asked, the silence getting to her. I shook my head, but said nothing. She sighed and I pictured her laying down staring at me. "This isn't your fault, y'know. He's our mate. He's OURS. Your sister needs to understand it. I can't stand seeing her take what belongs to us." I meekly nodded, knowing that it is hurting her and will cause us both to get weak. The wind blew and my hair cascaded in the breeze. A scent caught my attention, and before I could even recognize it myself, my wolf shouted "MINE!" The scent grew clearer as I started to panic. My eyes searched around before I looked at the lake. "Don't you dare!" My wolf growled, but I was already stripping. I dived into the lake and moments later, he appeared. His dazzling white coat sparked in the moonlight, as he walked to my clothes. He lifted his head and howled, an action my wolf found heart wrenching. I echoed a deep growl while trying to fight for control, and his head snapped in my direction. He walked to the shoreline, his purple eyes scanning the water, and found me. He tilted his head, as if he was asking me why I was hiding. "GET OUT OF THE WATER!" My wolf growled. I clenched my teeth stood up, and walked to his direction. His wolf looked up at me, his eyes burning into my reds, until I sat down. He then got up, got my clothes, and returned to where I was sitting. I smiled and stroked his back, instantly feeling shockwaves of joy. He leaned into my touch before laying on my bare thighs. I chucked softly and continued petting him until my wolf cried to come out. I slowly got up, softly pushing off Christian before letting her free. I felt myself drawing closer to him, as he wagged his tail happily. Before I even reached him, another scent tangled in the air. I quickly went back into my human form and threw my clothes on. Sarah sauntered into the scene and sprinted to me. I always adored her wolf firm. Her wolf was a golden brown and she had a black streak starting from her snout and gradually getting thicker as it reached her tail. She morphed back into her regular form and hugged me tightly. "I don't know what happened, or what you did that makes you think that I'll kill you, but I was kidding! You said that I'll kill you, so I was pretending I was. I really didn't hurt you did I?" I shook my head and she smiled and hugged me harder. My eyes shifted to Christian who stood I up and pulled his ears back. He then changed back to himself and stared at me, his eyes shifting between purple and gray. He took a deep breath in and stalked towards us. My wolf seemed to notice his mood and flattened her ears. Sarah pulled back and stared at him, all the muscles in her arms tensed as he stood in front of us. Her gold wolf eyes surfaced as she straightened her back. "What's your problem? I'm getting sick of you sticking your nose into our problem. She's not your responsibility; I am." He growled and narrowed his eyes. "She is my responsibility! And hurting her isn't okay."

She clenched her teeth and stood chest to chest with him. "She's your responsibility, huh. Exactly how?"

He growled at her and said "I have to protect her, she's my-" "BEST FRIEND!" I interrupted loudly. He looked at me and frowned while Sarah raised her eyebrow. "You guys are fucking with me, aren't you! I can't believe I fell into your trap!" She said while smiling, small giggles slipping out. I smiled and tangled my arm with Christian's, a gesture that sent tingles up my spine, and looped my arm with hers. "I'll be home soon, okay? I gotta talk to Christian." She smiled and hugged me then, to my horror, kissed Christian on the cheek. He smiled weakly until she left. I let out a dragged out breath and faced Christian, who had a million emotions swirling through his eyes. I sighed and began telling him my plan.
