Kayleigh
It all started at 7:30 am, 30 minutes before the first day of year 9. The New Girl, Ashleigh Davidson, arrived. She was wearing a black floppy t-shirt, a silky white blouse on top, denim jeans and white converse high tops. She wore sunglasses on top of her gorgeous, long, silky black hair, with a front fringe separated into two side fringes. Kids crowded around her, asking questions like, "What's your name? What school did you come from?" And Ashleigh was giving answers, 'I'm Ashleigh, I came from England, I'm 14, I like Turquoise and Aqua, I have no pets, although I had a cat in England," and blah blah blah. We played our own game until school started. There are a few of us who love school, a few of us who hate it, I'm one of the few who LIKE school. Everything is fine. But now Ashleigh is here, I've got a feeling everything is going to change.
We were in the same class as Ashleigh. Everyone wanted to be in the same table as Ashleigh. We got to choose. Ashleigh was first. "Er.... I'll go...." she said, puzzled. Everyone waved their hands in the air screaming, 'Ashleigh! Ashleigh! Pick Me! EEEH!' Everyone but Starleigh, Vayleigh and me. "Um.... You, you and... You," Ashleigh pointed out Starleigh, Vayleigh and me. We all stared at each other, shocked. "Starleigh, Vayleigh, Kayleigh and Ashleigh, you are a table for the REST OF THE YEAR," our teacher boomed. The last 4 words repeated in my head again and again. I was with Ashleigh for the rest of the year. Bad. I think. I haven't actually got to know Ashleigh. Why does everyone crowd around her? I'll see, because I'm sitting beside her at the back. Across from Vayleigh, diagonal to Starleigh. Next to Ashleigh for the rest of the year? We'll see how this goes.
Math was boring. How can we find x if it doesn't want to hide? It's right there on the page! "I'm bored. Do you want to play something?" Ashleigh whispered. I stared at her, shocked. "You mean you want to cut class?" I whispered back. No way was I doing that. "No, silly! We can play something on the table!" Ashleigh giggled. "Uh.... Ok.... If we find 'x' we get free time," I whispered. Starleigh, Vayleigh, Ashleigh and I made a foursome and we worked together, finding 'x' in no time. Well, 5 minutes anyway. We showed the teacher, she gave us all great remarks and said we were doing great, she was going to give us a good report, and she let us have free time. We talked and Ashleigh said she wanted to play with us at recess and lunch, not Gemma, who asked first. Since recess was longer than lunch, she played with Gemma at recess and us at lunch. Ashleigh isn't that bad after all! Maybe she could actually be our friend?
