[Rin x Neko!Reader]

It was hard to interact with her.

It wasn't that she was mean or anything. It was physically hard. After all, you two weren't exactly compatible. Why?

She has allergies to cats.

That would have been fine, if it weren't for the fact that you yourself were one. The first time you two met, she ended up having to go home early. After that, you two were separated into different sections.

But that didn't stop you two from getting closer. There was something about her that draws you in. Was it the way she speaks, which was ironic considering who was the real cat? Or is it how she seems to make everyone around her happy, including you? Whatever it was, you felt the urge to be near her.

So, you approached her. Tapping her shoulder lightly, you called out to her.

"Excuse me," you said, "I'm sorry about last week. Can we still be friends?"

The orange head, namely Rin Hoshizora, simply smiled and gave you a hug. "Sure nya~!" Surely enough, the next day she was sniffling in class.

Since then, you two would hang out whenever you can. Most of the times she'd get the sniffles. You'd ask if it is really fine that both of you meet each other. She'd say it is fine. That made you worry. Instead she even hugs you more or tease you. It was easy to see how you'd react since your tail said it all. Or pet you. That didn't please you though.

PS, it did.

One day, you two were supposed to meet up at the rooftop during lunch. So, you waited. And waited. And waited.

She didn't come.

You were heartbroken. She never forgets to hang out with you. She didn't even send a message. You decided to ask Hanayo, Rin's childhood friend and now your friend.

You waited for her outside the classroom. You spotted her going towards you with a redhead. It was probably the pianist Rin talks about a lot. You called out to them.

"Hanayo! Maki!"

"Oh Y/N! Why are you here?"

"Do you know where Rin is?" you asked. The two looked at each other, silently conversing as if asking the other if they should tell me. A few seconds passed before Maki spoke.

"She's absent," she said, "Apparently she had an asthma attack yesterday."

"Asthma attack? But she doesn't have-" you paused. Oh. It was you. Suddenly you felt guilt. They noticed this and tried to reassure you.

"Don't worry! Rin will be fine!"

"Yeah. It isn't your fault likes hanging out with you."

"Yeah..."

They were right. But, if you didn't approach her in the first place. You didn't want to think anymore so you walked away, not even saying goodbye.

The next day, you didn't talk to her.

And the week after that.

Of course, it is hard to avoid someone who is literally a room across you.

Lunch came by and you tried to escape but Rin, together with the help of Hanayo, captured you. You weren't exactly the fastest so they caught you easily.

They dragged you to the rooftop. You were left alone with Rin.

"Y/N. Why are you avoiding me?" she asked. You looked away, not speaking a word. You didn't have to. The guilt in your eyes tells it all. You were expecting Rin to interoggate you more, but instead, you were met with a warm body wrapping around you.

"I don't care if I get sick being with you." Her voice trembled as she said that. "I like being with you."

You couldn't answer. Is it fine? You knew that you also treasured your moments together.

Whatever.

"I do too," you finally answered. "I hope you're fine with getting sick every so often."

"Of course nya~!"
