Paige's POV
I just got back from my first year at Princeton. It was so much fun and I even made Dean's list. I havn't been in Omaha for a year now. I didn't come home on holidays because I was too busy with schoolwork. My dad did come out and visted me for Christmas.
"I still can't believe you convinced my dad to get a pool." I said to my Aunt Jenny laughing. She lives with us full time now.
"Well one day it was hot and there was nothing to do. I told him to get a pool and weirdly enough he said yes. You hungry?" she asked handing me a bottle of water
"No thanks. I am actually meeting Megan for dinner to catch up." I explained to her
"I didn't hear you guys come in. Hey sweetie how was your trip back?" My dad asked pulling me in for a hug
"It was good. I am a little jet lagged. I've missed you." I said giving him another hug
"I've missed you too squirt." he said kissing the top of my head
"How's monster girlfriend?" I asked smirking
"Karen is doing very well thanks for asking." my dad said smiling
"Dad I was being sarcastic." I said rolling my eyes
"Well I am really hoping this summer you will try and give her a chance." he said giving me a look
"I will try but probaly won't succeed. I am going to go take a shower." I said running upstairs so I couldn't get another lecture from him about her
Karen and my dad have been dating for five months now. She tries telling me what to do. She acts like my mother and that is why I don't like her. I plopped down on my bed for a second. It felt good to be back. I looked around at my room. Everything was the same. I bought a lot of new stuff for college. I looked at my wall that had all my pictures on it. Most of them were with Jack and I. I took them all down and put them in a empty box and stuck them on the top shelf of my closet.
I havn't talked to him since our breakup. I still don't even know why we broke up in the first place. I quickly unpacked and grabbed a fast shower. I blow dried my hair and I straightened my hair that is now almost to my butt. I applied foundation, blush, eyeshadow, bottom eyeliner, mascara, and lip gloss. I put on a blue strapless high low dress that has a borwn belt around the middle. I put on my brown sandals and gold earrings and put my phone and wallet into my brown satchel bag.
"Alright I am going now. I don't know what time I will be back." I said to my dad
"Honey this isn't college right now. You will be home no later than 12:30. Got it?" he asked
"Yeah got it. Bye." I said walking out the door
I am meeting Megan tonight at Panera Bread for dinner. I pulled up and parked my car. I saw Megan sitting outside. She was wearing a dark grey cropped top, blue, white, and pink shorts that had black dots on them, and white converse. Her hair was now a ambre color and it was straightened and half up half down. She looked flawless as usual.
"Paige!" she exclaimed bringing me in for a hug
"I've missed you so much!" I said hugging her back
"I've missed you too. Come on we have a lot of catching up to do." she said bringing me inside to get food than we picked a booth to sit down in.
"So how was your first year?" she asked
"Really good. I made Dean's list all year and I couldn't come back much because of my studies. How about you?" I asked
