Alma
I groaned at the sound of my alarm, but remembered that today was the day that I travel to Denmark with Freja which instantly got me into a good mood. I jumped out of bed and took a shower before brushing my teeth and putting my hair in a messy bun. I changed into a cute outfit. (Below)I grabbed my suitcase and ran out the door to catch the bus to the airport.
Once I arrived at the airport I went through security, I called Freja, she told me to meet her at a small café beside the souvenir shop.
I greet her with a hug and we wait for our plane to arrive.
"Hey, how are you?" I say, sitting down and continuing to drink my latte.
"I'm good, really nervous though," Freja awkwardly smiled afterwards. "Okay... maybe I'm really, really nervous!"
"It's okay," I spoke. "Look on the bright side, we're becoming independent adults!"
She laughed, while covering her mouth.
"Shall we get going?" I asked. "Our gate got called a few minutes ago"
"Sure."
We both hurriedly grab our hand luggage and book it to the gate.

"You and I are made of glass, we'd never last"
We were an hour into the flight, Freja's nerves had cleared off, and mine were just starting. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stop thinking about home, and how different it was going to be. I wanted to cry.
But soon enough, my finger got tired of tracing the rain drops flowing down from the airplane window, and I went out like a light.
So stray...

My lids that were drooping and leaden with sleep snap open as violently as if I'd been woken by the raid sirens wailing, but instead it was piercing screams and cries of the young and old all fleeing off the plane.
I look around for Freja in panic. I feel like I can't stand up, I can't speak. I feel a burning, intense pain rise in my body, as if something is squeezing me.
"Alma, use your hand luggage for coverage." I heard Freja's voice from behind me.
"Wh-whats going on?" I squeaked. I dug my nails into my palm so much I started to bleed.
"It's something in the rain..." Freja spoke fearfully.
We were still in the plane, it had landed intact in the airport. But you could see when you looked out the window people dropping like flies.
The tears burst forth like water from a dam, spilling down my face. I feel the muscles of my chin tremble like a small child and I look toward the window, as if the light could soothe me, but it made it worse.
Rain falls in crazy chaotic drops, the gusting wind carrying them in wild vortices one moment and in diagonal sheets the next.
"Don't let it touch you," Freja whispered to me. You could hear her voice crack, as hot tears ran down her face too. Disastrous. And somehow I knew it was coming?...
But why us?
Rain, something that could act as a calming lullaby becomes a deadly nightmare. It was as if God had adjusted the colours of the world in the day, like it was as easy as twisting one of those old plastic dials on a TV set.
And then, the rain comes to a halt.
