"David!" That was the last thing I heard before a sharp pain struck through my stomach, immediately followed by a loud bang.
I had found out where Mark Jefferson was keeping the girls he kidnaps and "Photographs", I didn't want to waste anytime and risk Max being the next girl to turn up on missing posters around Blackwell. I busted the door down with one swift kick, and then I saw him. Jefferson was taking photos of Max while she drifted in and out of consciousness. The sharp pain in my stomach was a clear indication that I hadn't acted fast enough, a pain I knew all too well. I had been shot.
It had felt like years passed, but I had woken up in a hospital bed and at the foot of the bed was my beautiful wife, Joyce. And to the side of the bed, was Chloe. My troublesome step-daughter. It was clear she had been crying, but had propped up once I ran my hand across her face, softly moving a stran of hair away from her eyes. "David..?"
"I'm sorry Chloe, Joyce. All I ever wanted was to protect the two of you"
A tear had began to fall from my face, a sight me, nor Joyce had seen for a long time and Chloe had never witnessed. "You did just fine step-douche. You saved Max, if it wasn't for you, no one would've known where Jefferson was or how him and Nathan killed Rachel and all those other girls.." I began to sit up in the hospital bed and hold my gunshot wound. "Chloe, I know I'm hard on you, and I'm sorry. I love you like you're my daughter, I've always just wanted you to be safe, and avoid being caught up in anything like this, I-" Before I could finish, I heard a loud scream. "David! David get up!" Followed by my Blue-haired step-daughter pushing me, trying to get me to wake up. It was clear now. I looked lazily to my left to see Jefferson laying on the floor with a shot through his shoulder and Max standing over him, aiming a gun at him making sure he didn't move.I looked down, and saw Chloe holding my stomach. There was too much blood, everything started to fade and finally. I fell asleep. "Chloe, take care of your Mother" It all went black. "David! DAVID!"
