"Okay girls, get comfy. We need to talk about Ace and Arabella." I announce. We are all sitting on my king-sized bed, drinking piping hot cups of hot-chocolate. "When I danced with Ace, I found out some interesting information about Ace and Arabella's relationship."
"Also, me and Claire talked to Arabella's friend, and we also found some information also." Bethany adds. Claire nods in agreement.
"I'll go first. I found out that Arabella framed me as some kind of stereotypical mean-girl. And get this-" I pause. Bethany and Claire lean in expectantly. "She told him that I 'have done all sorts of mean things to others when his back was turned'." I say making air quotes with my fingers.
Their mouths drop open.
"What!" Bethany exclaims. "You are in no way a mean person! You're the leader of the school's anti-bullying campaign! And you tutor people who need help in their classes! You help the freshman with all sorts of issues and stuff! How can she call you mean?"
I sigh. "Well she convinced Ace well enough to get him to break up with you."
"Arabella's friend- her name was Hannah by the way- didn't trust us for some reason, but we got some information from her anyway." Claire plays with the tips of her long red hair. "We managed to find out that Hannah set them up to be partners by switching the teachers list. How she did it? We don't know."
"Wait. She got her friend to tamper with the partners list? Isn't that against the rules?" I ask.
Bethany jumps off the bed, almost spilling her hot chocolate. "We can tell a teacher about what she did! She would probably get into some kind of trouble for doing that!" She begins to pace back and forth. "Of course, we are going to need evidence."
"What- no!" I yell. "Wouldn't that give them more ammo? She's probably say something like, 'Oh Ace, did you see what just happened, Aubrey the mean girl tried to seperate us because she's so mean!" I whine, mimicking Arabella's voice.
"OH!" Claire shouts suddenly. "This reminds me of a book I read! The main character is a nerd who falls in love with this bad boy who's dating a popular girl and they fell in love after being lab partners."
"Okay, Claire, thats cute and all but this is real life, not some book-" Bethany pauses. "OOOOHHH I get it now!"
I nod. "So what happened in your book?"
"Uhh... the bad boy and the nerd girl date and the popular girl gets kicked out of her school.... But anything can happen right?" She adds on quickly after seeing my saddened face. "Look, we got you in all of this. Right Bethany?" She looks at Bethany.
"Yeah." Bethany nods. "Hugs!" We all lean in for a group hug.
I have the best friends ever. Nothing can prove otherwise.
