Chapter 26 - Surprise

Harry woke up the next morning, looking around himself to see Draco on one side, and Hermione on the other, all three of them in his bed.

He sat up and transformed into his puppy form, making his way off the bed and out the door, towards the living room.

Lupin was sitting on the couch, sipping some tea, and Harry trotted up to him, hopping up beside him.

"Oh, hello there." Lupin says gently, petting Harry gently. "How did you get here?"

Harry nuzzled against his hand, sitting on his lap, curling up and going back to sleep.

Severus came out about an hour later, sitting in his usual armchair.
"Morning Remus." Severus says.

"Morning." Lupin responds. "Any idea where this little guy came from?" He asks, pointing to the sleeping pup in his lap. "He just sort of walked up and laid down - before I knew it he was asleep."

Severus chuckles as the pup wakes up, standing up and stretching on Lupin's lap with a whiney yawn.

The puppy then hops down and trots over to Severus, and Snape leans down to pick him up, setting him in his lap.

"Goodmorning, Harry."

Lupin nearly chokes on his tea. "Wha- Harry?"

Severus nods as Harry transforms back into his human form, snuggled up close to Snape.

"But I thought that.. That you could only have one Animagus form.."

"Apparently, though it's rare, you can have more than one, though it would be more difficult to master and control, though Harry seems to have gotten the hang of it pretty easily." Severus states, and Harry smiles proudly.

"That is... Extremely impressive.." Lupin mumbles, sipping his tea once again.

Severus nnod with a smile. "I am very proud of his outstanding progress."

Weeks passed, and Severus seemed restless. Anytime anyone would ask him what he was concerned about, he would ignore them or brush them off.

One Saturday, Severus had excused himself from going to dinner that evening, insisting that he had some 'very important matters to attend to', and despite wanting to know what exactly these matters were, Lupin decided it would be better to just not ask.

Harry sat with Draco and Hermione, chatting away along with the other students.

A little later, dinner was over, and Harry, Lupin, Hermione, and Draco met up at the Staff Table.

"Where's dad?" Harry asks Lupin, whom simply shrugs. "Insisted he had something to do, so he skipped dinner. Suppose we should go see where he's gone off to?"

Harry nods, and Lupin turns to Hermione and Draco.

"You two should head back to your dorms before it gets too late." Hermione and Draco nod and heads off reluctantly, leaving Harry and Remus alone.

"Now, let's go see what your dad is up to." Harry smiles and nods, taking his hand and practically dragging him to Severus's quarters.

The moment they entered, Harry could already tell that something was off.

Harry and Lupin saw Severus at his usual chair, looking far more exhausted than he usually is.

"Dad?" Harry asks with concern, and Severus places a finger to his lips, shushing him quietly, his eyes landing on the couch.

Lupin walks around to the couch, looking to see who was there. His eyes lay on a familiar face, and he drops to his knees, eyes wide in surprise.

"Severus.. What..? How.."
