Kim tried not to feel nervous as he walked into the meeting room. He tried to remind himself that he wouldn't be there for long. Just long enough to meet with the leader of the other band of revolutionaries in France.
Timebreaker was an enhanced person, like him. Enhanced people were illegal, and there had been a genocide on them. Not many had survived it. Now, there was a band of female enhanced running around and fighting back, and a band of male enhanced. The two bands didn't have a lot of interaction, but they both fought for the same cause: freedom and equality.
A few seconds later, someone who definitely wasn't what he was expecting walked in.
She was a short woman, with dyed pink hair. She looked strong, and had a defiant look in her eye, wearing all black like a ninja, except with a few green accents. Kim himself wore mostly red. Blood was easier to clean out of red, and if it wouldn't wash out, no one would notice.
"You're the Timebreaker?" He asked. She was an infamous enhanced vigilante, who had the ability to run back in time—but only if she killed a certain amount of people to drain their energy. As such, she usually wore gloves to protect others from her deadly powers. Kim imagined that would be hard; not being able to touch anyone, ever, without killing them. He wondered how many friends she had accidentally killed as a kid when her powers first started to wake up.
She nodded, "And you're Dark Cupid."
"Yeah," Kim agreed. He had the ability to use a projectile weapon to turn someone against their loved ones. Anything would work, but he preferred a bow an arrows. He didn't particularly like his powers, and unless the victim got true-love's kiss, the effect was permanent.
"Why did you call me here?" Timebreaker asked, taking off one of her gloves and playing with a small handgun. He knew that was she was trying to intimidate him. All she had to do was touch him and he would have his energy stolen. He would die.
Then he steeled himself. Timebreaker was smart. He knew that much about her. She wouldn't kill an ally. Not without a legitimate reason.
"We're losing this fight," Kim pointed out, "Supreme Leader Hawkmoth has destroyed most of our allies. In the last month, I've lost several men. And I know you have, too."
Timebreaker didn't meet his eyes, "So what do you want to do about it?"
"I think it's time we join forces," Kim suggested, "You're a formidable fighter. So am I. We'll be stronger together."
"What makes you think I need your help?" She asked.
"You don't," Kim admitted, "But maybe I need yours." He leaned in so that the guards couldn't hear, "I'm running low on resources. I only have seven guys left. The rest are dead or captured. I really need your help, Timebreaker."
Timebreaker looked up at him, "Well, lucky for you, I've lost a lot of women recently." She walked towards the door, "Meet me here with your men at midnight. I'll take you to our base, and we'll see how it works. If it doesn't, I'll kick you out so quickly you won't know what happened." She turned and walked a few steps back to place her wrist on Kim's shoulder, her exposed hand leaning towards his head.
Kim stayed perfectly still.
"You should know," Timebreaker said, "I already had a woman betray me. Needless to say, Volpina isn't going to be betraying anyone else ever again—if you ever think of giving us up... I won't hesitate to do the same to you."
She took her hand away and put her glove on, "See you at midnight."
She walked away, and Kim tried to ignore the fact that besides afraid, he was also slightly attracted.
...
Alix came back at midnight, and found Dark Cupid waiting with seven young men.
None of them looked that special, besides the fact that all of them wore masks, but gifts often lied beneath the surface.
She had Horrificator and Ladybug with her, and figured they'd probably be enough if she needed backup.
"Think we can trust them?" Mylene, aka Horrificator asked.
Alix shrugged, "If we can't, we can handle them." She walked over to Dark Cupid, "Alright, I know your powers, but I'm going to need to know theirs as well."
Dark Cupid shrugged, and pointed to each of the boys as he introduced them, "That's Chat Noir. Ability to destroy things he touches, but he can only do it once a day. Gamer can treat the world like his own personal video game, and use a giant battlebot to destroy shit. Bubbler can trap people in bubbles and also use the bubbles as forcefields and stuff. Illustrator can make anything he draws appear in real life. Stoneheart can turn into a giant stone monster. Tuner can use music as a weapon, and Copycat can transform into anyone he touches."
"Nice," Alix admitted. She could use these guys. Their powers could be useful, "Just to be clear, I'm in charge here. Hope you don't mind following orders, Cupid."
"No problem," Dark Cupid said.
"Blindfold em' girls," Alix said with a smirk, "Can't have them knowing where the base is before we know we can trust them."
...
Kim knew he was risking everything trusting this woman. If he was wrong, and she just killed his men, that was on him. Still... he was really hoping that she would let him help her. He hadn't seen all of her fighters, of course, but he knew that they included someone who could temporarily make someone look like anyone else, and someone who could manipulate all types of gasses, but most commonly used perfumes or toxins. He had plans that could use both of those powers, and there was no telling what others she might have.
When the blindfolds were taken off, several young women surrounded them, in a huge base, which, though still sort of scrappy, was much better-supplied than Kim's old base had been.
Timebreaker smirked, "Welcome to base, boys. Hope you have what it takes to keep up."
