Samantha Beauregard was never the type of person to believe in spirits, curses, or monsters. She was a good girl that believed in making the right choices in life without help from religion. It was those good choices that lead up to her happiness that she now has in her late twenties. It wasn't easy, and at times she wanted to give up but, she trudged along all the same. Still, there was another obstacle to face.
One late night, Samantha was busy with work in the office. There was no more coffee which meant no more fuel for the rest of the paperwork that had piled up on the desk. Samantha's vision went blurry as tried to fight back the tiredness. Eventually, she went on sleep mode to get much needed rest.
During sleep state, a misty fog entered into her dream. Red eyes flashed amidst the purple fog, casting a crazy idea of doubt. A scythe came forth, and ripped open Samantha's thigh. Blood came spurting out of the veins. Suddenly, her brain started to go haywire, alerting the spirit that the body is in trouble! The left leg needed maintenance immediately!
Samantha awoke with a start. Sweat trickled down her brow, as well as drool hanging off of her chin. Just a nightmare. Or so she thought.
An itching sensation came on, and Samantha started to scratch out her left thigh. She stopped almost immediately when a stinging pain erupted from the spot she was scratching. She pulled up her skirt to reveal a nasty scar on her left thigh, just like in the nightmare.
Samantha expressed terror at the thought of a random scar appearing on her thigh, especially after having such a bizarre nightmare. What a strange coincidence. Deciding not to let this get the best of her mind, she went to the doctors to find out what was going on with her leg.
Dr. Humphrey, Samantha's primary care doctor, told her not to worry, that things like this happen every once in a while to people with high stress. Considering the fact that Samantha did claim to have itched her leg as soon as she woke up, may mean that the scar came from scratching while, she was asleep. It all made sense to Samantha so, she dismissed any thought that try to bring up any fearful or anxious pressure. Simple as that, right?
Maybe, as weeks had passed by without scars appearing at random. Nor were there any itchy episodes, or nightmares that involved a shadowy monster with big, red eyes. Samantha made sure to take it easy at work, as to avoid putting too much stress on her body and mind. She even started to go out to do fun activities with other people, and gradually made some friends along the way.
Problem is, Samantha had to work another late night at work. It didn't help that the weather had started to get colder; winter sure can be a drag sometimes. The paperwork had gotten dangerously overloaded. Samantha was ready to drop dead. And thus, she fell asleep after finishing half of it.
Once again, a mysterious creature appeared in her dream, except this time it was a dragon with two heads protruding from it's wrists. The giant letter "H" on the dragon's chest started to glow bright red. The deep red glow started to give her a headache, making her feel as if her head was about to explode. All of a sudden, the dragon's arms stretched out, and took huge bites out of both of her legs, causing blood to spurt all over the dirt covered ground below.
Samantha awoke with a jolted start. Fully aware of the surroundings, regardless, she immediately pulled down her pants to see another scar on her right thigh. This time, the scar looked like a bite mark, so did the other one on her left thigh. Something strange was definitely happening in her dreams. But who could she go to with this problem?
One of Samantha's new friends, Roary, told her that there is a famous psychic that lives in New York City. Naturally, she felt nervous about going to see a person with such an unusual occupation but, risks had to be made for this dire situation. And so, Samantha took two days off from work to set out on a road trip for New York City.
Of course, the six hour long drive was very tedious most of the time yet, it had it's relaxing moments every now and then. When Samantha finally made it to the psychic's office, she was absolutely intimidated by the shadows of nasty-looking creatures that danced around ten story building. Nevertheless, she went on a long ass drive, there was no way she would be turning back now.
Luckily for Samantha, the psychic's office was only on the second floor.
The psychic turned out to be a beautiful woman that could have fooled anyone into thinking that she was young. In truth, Samantha was so taken aback by the lady's beauty that she had almost forgotten about her monster problems. It was a good thing that the psychic just happened to be a kind person, and asked about the problem.
Esmerelda, the psychic, agreed to take on the monsters for a small fee of $100. They would get started on the ritual right away, as to avoid the monsters from getting any more powerful from feeding on Samantha's body and soul.
The ritual has just started. The candles have been lit, hymns have been spoken, talismans have been written, and spirits have been summoned. The room they were currently sitting in had a strong light that emitted a powerful positive aura. Yet, there was a mysterious, dark fog that had now circled around the entire building.
Two pairs of red claws shined through the windows. Esmerelda made sure to help Samantha endure the fear that was being pressured onto her body. The windows shattered onto the floor with a loud BANG! A serpent with arms had slithered on into the room, and was ready to dig it's red claws into Samantha's flesh. Thankfully, the talismans floated into the air and stopped the monster from making another move.
Next, the spirits that were summoned previously had pinned the giant serpent onto the floor. Esmerelda took this opportunity to unsheathe the dagger tied to her hip, and ran up to drive it into the serpent's head. As soon as the dagger went in, blood spurted up to the ceiling like oil. Esmerlda did not stop there though, she continued to drive the dagger down the serpent's body, causing all of the red blood to spray paint the entire room.
When the spirits left the room, so did the fog, blood, talismans, and the monster's corpse.
Samantha ran up to Esmerelda to give her a huge hug. After handing the money to the kind psychic, she ended up asking her out to dinner as a way of further thanking her for the duty she performed. But, was the job really over? Only way to find out is to see what happens in the spring.
